| maize n blue (6/11/2008) They must be fairly confident that Terry will be around and possibly be re-signable at a later date to cut him this early for another guy nobody's heard of.
No joke on the 'nobody's heard of. I can't find too much on this guy. Anybody got any info on him?
Go heavy early.

Jags02 (6/11/2008) I had him making the roster in my last prediction. This is surprising news. I too thought they liked both his agility to bounce outside and his sub-4.4 speed. But I guess they prefer Chauncey's unique combination of power and speed.Suddenly, Montell Owens looks roster spot becomes all the more secure as well, although there is still a slight chance that Cotrone beats out Owens for the backup FB role leaving Owens to fight with Washington for the 3rd RB spot. Typically they'd release a player for the sole purpose of adding another play since their roster was full prior to his release. Any word of a new signing? Did a fifth rounder sign early? If Cotrone shows promise as an H back, he may squeeze into the last TE spot if there's no more available back spots. Wrighster's injury status seems to be hurting his chances of sustaining his position on the roster. First it was the back, now the knee. He's signed through 2011, but he's not necessarily standing out in the crowd like he was beginning to earlier in his career. Estandia and Angulo filled in well when called upon. It's not like we dropped off when he went out, and if he can't come back 100%... he may no longer be needed. I think a guy that may sneak into the last TE spot is Bishop. He's got good hands, but minimal athleticism. He's also got good size and was an excellent blocking TE...as well as a good long snapper.

| | Bishop may sneak onto the roster. Last year we also picked up a UDFA TE from Nevada, but Pudewell sustained an injury and was out early. I'm not even sure he made it to OTA's. But to the RB. The Jags just don't need a 3rd down back - whether he has speed or not. Taylor and Drew and Jones and Owens just make it hard for anyone looking for a roster spot. But they could be looking for a big, tough runner to backup Taylor. Now he just has to be able to stay on the 80-man roster after the Jags start signing their draftees. He may end up on the practice squad like Terry was last year. |

| Look at his final 2 games of the season. 44 Att - 466 Yards - 6.0 Avg. - 4 TD http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/football/ncaa/players/34911/index.html
It's against Alcorn St and Granbling St, but he must have showed something n those two games. He's a former Alabama RB who had problems and ended up at Jackson St. Here is his Proday. http://goallinefootball.com/newsblog/tag/lavarus-giles/

That appears to be one of Cotrone's specialties - and he outweighs Bishop by just over 10 pounds. Bishop seems very slight for such a tall guy (6' 5" and only 248.) Cotrone may only be 6' 2" but he comes in at 260 and is a pounder, which would work out very well as an H back. He's almost a Wrighster clone in size, only a inch shorter and a couple pounds lighter. Plus, as a back, he was never stopped behind the line of scrimmage his last two seasons in college. Unless he's put on ten pounds and isn't really 248, Bishop has height, but not good size.
"I have to do a better job of throwing the ball downfield more when I have chances and not second-guess it. We just haven’t had the explosive plays like we had last year,” Garrard said. -10/10/08 The only defense against madness is the accord of your peers. That is, if you can convince no one that your beliefs are well-founded, then it's probably you who are crazy, and not the herd. - Alexandre Kojeve | |

| His track coach says he could be an Olympic Runner if he switched from football to track and field.
"If he would train for track on a day-to-day basis, he could be an Olympic runner. Without a doubt. As far as size and speed and if he would just concentrate on track, (he compares) almost like a Maurice Greene type athlete."
I've got a little more information on him here, and I'm attempting to get a hold of someone at Jackson State for even more.
