| Krayz_Jville_D (6/6/2008) i would shut mathis down until training camp too, we dont need him to be banged up all year again... prior to that tho all i kept hearing was how great he looked out there breaking up passes, intercepting, and just looking all around back to his former self, hopefully this wont set him back any and he gets himself back where he belongs, the probowlDo we even know what Rashean's injury is? At least Mike Walker and Marcedes Lewis are out there showing no signs of injury. Is Wrighster still out? Aside from Porter, is anyone else out?

Wrighster, Brian Smith, and Chauncey Washington were the others not participating. Clint Ingram is back as well. I know when the trainers were taking a look at Rashean, they were looking at the right knee. But I really don't think it's serious. I didn't see him limping off the field as they headed towards the locker rooms.

| jagibelieve (6/6/2008) As always, nice report Tim. It's good to see that underwear practice seems to be going alright, even with the few dings a couple of the player are going through. I can't wait for training camp when the REAL practices start.Of course, minicamp is a "glorified" underwear practice. I'm interested in seeing just how well Matt Jones, Williamson and Broussard all perform when the hitting starts. One of these three should make the roster, and in part I'm looking for the toughest guy among them.

FBT (6/6/2008)
Jagrams (6/6/2008) From what I'm reading on the QB situation, should we be concerned with the backup? It sounds like they shouldn't have let our backup go. Yeah, I know it is only minicamp. It doesn't sound like Mathis is getting off to a good start either particularly since he was banged up last year. Del Rio was singing the praises of Daryl Smith this morning on the radio saying this should be a good year for him. Thanks for the recap. It's June. Let's not get too worried now. Let's see what happens when training camp starts. Even then, we're still talking about a backup QB. Agreed. But this certainly doesn't sit well with folks like me who didn't like the signing in the first place. Personally I would have rather had a more experienced veteran. I'm not going to throw Lemon any farther under the bus than I already have, but he's really got to show me something to prove to me it wasn't a bad move - and he's not necessarily getting of to a good start. Even so, I'll give him a pass (pun completely intended) for summer but I'll be eager to see what he offers this fall. It's only backup QB, but you never know. Sounds like Bouman wouldn't necessarily be a bad alternative, so I'm not "worried" per se. Lemon throws nice-looking, tight spirals from what I've seen, but he hasn't had all that much of a chance to get timing down with the receivers. This may be why he looks so sloppy this early, but is there more to it than that? What bugs me is Del Rio mentioning how he's not overly impressed with Lemon's arm. Knowing that they gave him a 4-year, $8 mil contract that included a $3 mil roster bonus, you'd like to know that he's at least as good as Quinn Gray who signed a minimal deal with the Texans. So far that doesn't look to be the case. I do think the Jaguars made a mistake by not giving Gray the contract they gave Lemon. I'd feel far more confortable know that if Garrard goes down, they still have Gray. But we can't keep saying "what if," and like FBT said, we're talking about the backup QB position. Lemon is a mobile QB with starting experience able to escape tricky situations even if it means throwing on the run. It bugs me to see him arm being questioned because I felt that was a strength of his. Watching him on film, it appeared his biggest weakness was making bad decisions resulting in INTs. That's still my fear with him. Should he come in, is he just going to throw INTs like he was so prone to do in Miami?

Thanks for the great report FBT. The practice was awesome. There is a genuine sense of anticipation for the 08 season. I spent the majority of my time watching the defensive players and came away with a couple of observations. 1.) Tony McDaniel looks bigger and stronger than he has in the past. 2.) Reggie Hayward looked really fast out there. How fast? Fast enough to challenge Spicer or Harvey for a starting role?

Harvey was running with the 2's

| Hayward also caught my eye. He looks like he could be back to his old pre-injury self. That would be great news.

Harvey and Groves will have to wait for the pads to seperate from the pack. As for Cleo Lemons, he looked absolutely lost. Since I can't leave a post on a negative note... the signing of Troy Williamson for a 6th round selection may have been the steal of a decade. This team is DEEP this year, quarterback being the only exception. Garrard is light years ahead of Lemons. Bouman may be better suited to fulfill the number two QB roll. One more thing...Chauncy Washington had better find is way back to the field because D.D. Terry looked very good this morning. I'm telling you, O2, it is very hard to pick on one position. I can't remember a season that they looked so solid and deep this early.
