| I'm so close to bashing a certain somebody right now....but trying to hold my composure...
heres the news per rotoworld:
Mike Walker - WR - Jacksonville Jaguars
May 14, 2008
Jaguars WR Mike Walker (knee), TE George Wrighster (shoulder), TE Marcedes Lewis (knee), and TE Greg Estandia were held out of practice Tuesday.
Coach Jack Del Rio still expects all to be ready for training camp. No surgery for Lewis was ever reported, but he'll be someone to keep an eye on. We wouldn't expect a major leap statistically, but he can be a rock solid TE2. Walker's role is uncertain for now. Wrighster may be on the bubble.

Brian Smith - DL - Jacksonville Jaguars
May 14, 2008
Jaguars 2007 fourth-round pick Brian Smith still isn't fully recovered from the broken hip he suffered as a college senior. He spent last year on injured reserve and is likely on the roster bubble heading to camp. Smith, who set a Mizzou record for career sacks, has shed weight and is down to 235. Perhaps the Jags now view him as a linebacker.

| 1. WE ALREADY KNEW MIKE WALKER WAS GOING TO BE HELD OUT OF OTAS MONTHS AGO
2. I've not read anything official that say Smith has not recovered from last year. He was listed out because of a knee, not his hip.

Nobody said you couldn't have an opinion. The problem was saying the same thing in every post. Major kudos to you for putting a stop to that.

| | At 6'3" 235 lbs, I just don't see Brian Smith competing for a spot on the D-Line. He is going to have to be groomed and will compete with Brent Hawkins as a rush LB. As far as players who are being held back from walking around in their underwear, who other than someone looking to soil their diapers, is really concerned at this stage of the off-season? |

| Brian Smith is a real concern. The Jags took a risk on him in the darft, and he hasnt been on the field and might never be. So, there is room to question.

| | Brian Smith was a reach since he was injured coming out of college. But the Jags thought he was worth the risk given he finished second in Big 12 history in sacks despite missing about 1/2 of his senior season with the injury. He may never make the team, but if he does he should be a big time contributor. Regards............the Chiefjag

| | I say you give Smith more time. Let him not only fully heal, but also build his body back to form. In late June go ahead and place him on the PUP list. You can keep him on the list through the first eight or nine weeks of the season and then activate him (he has to stay on the list for at least the first six weeks). By then there are always injury replacements on the roster you realize can be waived, and Brian just might be a late season weapon giving the Jaguars that much more of an edge down the stretch. Mike Walker is a different story. He's needs to get himself in shape now so that he's ready to compete when camp begins.

I think he'll be PUP'd or IR'd again, despite possibly being technically healthy enough to make the roster. Walker is being held out by the staff, so it's a safe bet they've got a close eye on his conditioning.
