Read the 13th Planet.

What is it?

The Aliens are here now, and have been here since man has walked the earth

I'm curious, why do you believe this? I'm not trying to smack you, just curious about your opinions on why aliens would come here on a regular basis.

I explain it like I told a friend some time ago.

You look at the pace of Technology (and I'm not just talking about computers or the like) from the earliest days of man up until the 1950's. The pace was rather slow to say the least.

Well, it 1947 The Crash at Roswell "happened" (I'm usinging "" because some people believe nothing happened then). Look at the pace of technology since, it's 100X or better what it was up to that point.

Are we reverse engineering a UFO? probably. Have we made other contact? Again, probably. (I say probably because the Government MAY know about them but I can't say for certain)

I just believe that we are an experiment and that the earth is a giant petri dish. And I believe that they are amonst us now, and have been visiting ever since time began, to assist us and check on our "progress".

huh. 4 articles in one week? I was just kidding, but maybe there's something to it...

Drifter, I won't sit here and say you're wrong about your hypothesis (though I don't agree), but there are alternative explanations.

While the space age didn't really start until about midway through the 1900's, the exponential increase in the rate of technological development goes much farther back.

Other possibilities:

1. Up until a few hundred years ago clean, pure water was hard to come by. Many people drank more alcohol than anything else, and the ones who did drink water often drank water contaminated with human and animal waste, mercury, etc. This would obviously stunt the development of human brains, especially if it occurred during childhood. Now that people are able to access clean water more easily you could say that we're finally able to use our brains without issue.

2. Since the end of the Black Death in Europe the world's population has been steadily rising. Due to this more people are around to invent new things and provide labor-hours. This would also speed up development.

3. Technology builds upon itself. New technology allows you to build tools that make creating new technology faster and more efficient. Provided no outside variables change things, technology should continue to speed up in the future.

Again, not saying you CAN'T be right about it, just giving my on alternative possibilities.

Read the 13th Planet.

What is it?

its a book by Zacharius Stitchin (sp?) who ran theory that there was a 13th planet in close enough but wide enough orbit to settle earth and develop civilization.

He used alot of older religious (I am talking Sumerian religion) to develop this hypothesis.

One really cool part of the book shows a depiction of the solar system with Pluto and the sun as the central part of the system. Created by the Sumerians... which is interesting because Pluto was discovered until the 20th century.

I dont subscribe to the theory but found it really interesting.

Michio Kaku came up with the idea that aliens could be visiting the planet by "folding" space, like a piece of paper. Remember, The fastest way to get from one side of a paper to another, is to fold it.

I disagree.

By 1947, humanity had already developed nuclear power. Since then we've failed to develop fusion power.  We have developed fusion weapons, but these were conceptualized before 1947.

By 1947, humanity had already developed rocketry at the V-2 stage. In the last 50 years rocketry hasn't progressed any faster than automobile development did in it's first fifty years. We don't have anti-gravity, nuclear engines, or any propulsion system even close to the requirements for interstellar travel.

Likewise, we've only made normal incremental developments in the jet airplane technology developed during WW2 (before 1947).

Genetic engineering is a big part of the tech advance, but it has really only become a factor in the last ten to twenty years.

The transistor was also invented before 1947, although the first successful one was built shortly after Roswell. Still, I doubt an alien race capable of interstellar travel would use transistor technology large enough for humanity to discover and reverse engineer. Right now we put a billion transistors on a single silicon wafer. Maybe a case could be made for alien-tech computer development, but that's the only technology that really took off shortly after Roswell.

I just believe that we are an experiment and that the earth is a giant petri dish. And I believe that they are amongst us now, and have been visiting ever since time began, to assist us and check on our "progress".

A race capable of interstellar travel would choose to expand to fill the galaxy. I don't see how any race could develop without at least some biological need to procreate and expand. A race would have little reason to avoid colonizing habitable planets without intelligent life. Why would they not colonize Earth? One explanation is that the aliens would find Earth unsuitable. If that's the case, it's unlikely they would show up in Roswell in a relatively human-looking spacecraft. Another is that they refused to colonize a planet with intelligent life. If intelligence is very rare, the odds are very much against the only other intelligent race in the galaxy appearing in the short time that humans have walked the Earth. If intelligence is more likely, then the first intelligent creatures would have appeared much earlier. Only one intelligent interstellar race will rule the galaxy. That one race must have been willing to wipe out, or at least suppress, all competition, yet leave humanity alone.

The alternative explanation that we were planted here (possibly as a colony) doesn't fly when you compare our DNA to that of other Earth animals. We clearly are genetically related to species that existed on Earth over a hundred million year ago. If life on earth was planted, it was planted nearly a billion years ago. For this explanation to work, it follows that an extraterrestrial race must have ruled the galaxy for nearly a billion years. If so, they've done an amazing job of covering up a billion years of evidence of their existence, only to blow it all by crashing a spacecraft in Roswell. It's much more likely that all of existence is just my dream, or someone else's computer program.

In any case, we would see some spectral evidence of extraterrestrial energy use in nearby star systems. It's unlikely that all of the nearby star systems are unsuitable for colonization.
