How many memorible big hits can you name for Brian Williams... ? The Pitts game he had some nice hits.. (last year - monday night @ home) How many chances does a CB really get to lay wood? Not as many as a safety.[/quote]
Which is why it's humurous to hear people talk about him as a big hitter? Who's he laid the wood on? Some WR's? OK, now on to the 2nd part of the previous post, is BW an upgrade to the position of S regarding coverage? I think that's a resounding YEP.

| its unbelievable how many times i have to say this, just again to see someone post it again as if they have no idea what they are talking about...
someone HAS to bring up drayton's metrics last year, but REFUSES to see that his metrics were better in the previous years than quentin jammer... screw those years right? they mean nothing... florence was hurt last year if im not mistaken and had bad hamstring issues for a while and thats one of the major reasons he lost his job... tell me if im wrong...
please stop going off LAST YEAR'S metrics as if those are the only metrics we have to go on with him.... goodness gracious.........

TMD's "predictions" so far for 08 season:
-Minnesota and Philly in the NFC championship game with Minnesota in the Superbowl
-Denver Broncos in the AFC championship game
-Houston a top 5 rushing team in the 09 season
-Houston seeded higher in the playoffs than the jags
- jags finishing 9-7 at best
- Browns finish better than the Jags
-Jags finish last in the AFC South after a bad showing in the preseason
TMD and I have a bet for $100 on the Jags wins
-Denver winning the AFC West LOL

| | Of one thing I am certain... Florence has played far more man-to-man coverage than Williams has. If we are going to use a lot of man-to-man this season, Florence has a clear edge on the RCB job. As for moving Williams to Safety, i believe it to be foolish, UNLESS Williams is a better Safety than Sensabaugh AND Sensabaugh is a better NB than Williams.

Laying wood on a WR is loads different than on a RB/TE. I had no clue. As long as he makes the tackle, I don't care.

please stop going off LAST YEAR'S metrics as if those are the only metrics we have to go on with him.... goodness gracious.........lol. I didn't refuse to see anything. It's a valid criticism. Those are the most recent, and therefore the most relevant metrics to go on. I haven't even seen any previous metrics, since I don't know where to get them online, and I don't feel like buying that one guy's book. Those metrics (from last year) weren't just kind of bad though, they were just plain ugly. And the writer guy who posted those metrics online said as much. Since that guy (I forget who) basically makes his living off of metrics analysis and the like, I'd expect him to know. |

| well its funny how those same guys who take the metrics just 1 year before were saying that florence was better than jammer... so now all the sudden after 1 year that has changed? i dont think so.. do you guys wanna know who had one of the best metrics of all cornerbacks this year? i bet 90% of hte people on this board have never heard of him... his name is rod hood of arizona... and we all know how good arizona's pass D is...
now tell me, is rod hood now an elite CB? top 5 in the nfl as his METRICS showed?

I dunno if Rod Hood is an elite CB, but he's probably a better player than some think... & he was quite a good value as a FA signing. Young, cheap (compared to what CB's like Brian Williams & Florence got) and very productive.

| TMD dont slip back into your old ways... hood was signed by the cardinals before any break out season ever occured and he was never even a starter with the eagles, thats why he was cheap.
my point is that rod hood is not an elite CB and no one would pay him like it but thats what the metrics showed this past season.. metrics are only ONE WAY of looking at a CB... CB is the hardest position to judge in all of the NFL
