| How did Brian Williams look at safety on the first days of OTA’s?
Vic: Come on, Brian Williams can play safety in his sleep. It was an underwear practice. I think there were 12 plays in the whole thing. We’re talking about a corner who’s built like a running back. If that doesn’t scream safety, I don’t know what does. This is a lay up. Hmm. Interesting.

| What do you do if Sensebaugh shows up and plays really well during camp and preseason?
In this scenario I envision Williams taking over at nickelback or retaining the starting job outright. Either way, the Jaguars would have the luxury of fielding a top notch nickel with three corners that could be starters on any other team in the NFL.

| I never doubted that Brian Williams CAN play Safety at a respectable level.
My issue lies with the question being "how is this secondary actually "improving" overall from last year with this set up?
I knew that a secondary with Sensabaugh playing S & either Wiliams or Florence being forced to play nickel because of a numbers game was indeed a better secondary than last years version. But with Florence merely taking over Br Williams spot & Brian Williams essentially being a lateral move from Sammy Knight, I'm not so sure how much improved, if at all, the secondary is.
Sensabaugh/ Starks/ or a rookie playing nickel IMO, won't be a noticable upgrade from Cousin last year. Again, Williams or Florence easily would have been...but not the aforementioned 3.
Now, I wish we would have made that Sheppard deal. AT least adding Sheppard would have forced the NB to be Florence, again making the secondary significantly improved from last year.
Also, as I pointed out yesterday....if THIS was the plan all along (B Will to Safety) then why settle for Florence as the "upgrade" to Brian Williams RCB spot? Why not spend the extra money and get one of the best CB's in the league in Samuel, rather than paying only slightly less cash (in the scheme of things) for a CB like Florence, which is still essentially a "?".

Are you kidding me? If you think that Knight to Williams is a lateral move please don't offer your opinion. |

Even in the grand scheme of things, Samuel would've been way more expensive than Florence.

He's built like a little running back, unless he put on about 20lbs.
I don't see what Brian Williams has done that screams SS to me, like Vic seems to infer...

Sammy Knight played very well last year. You make it sound as if he was crap or that you expect Br Williams to somehow morph into Rodney Harrison in his prime.
I think you're the one who needs to get a check up from the neck up.

| | Also remember, the team didn't target Florence or even Corner Back for that matter. Once Saturday rolled around and they had signed J. Porter, they noticed that he was still on the market. By that time, Samuel was already two days into his contract with Philly. The Florence signing struck me as more of a Best-Available-Guy-event added to a We-got-more-Cap-space-than-we-know-what-to-do-with type of thing.

| | Not to overly state the obvious, but it seems to me that its not just Vic's opinion about the potential move of 29 to Safety. Also if you caught Ketchman on 1010 this afternoon don't rule out Sensabaugh just yet. He implied that if Gerald was lights out it could leave an opening for the Jaguars to possibly even Cut Brian Williams. Bottom line as stated many other posts, and topics that the Jaguars have flexibility in the Secondary like never before and if the Road to Tampa Still goes through Indy and NE like many believe, having this flexiblity is a tremendous asset. Just my 2 cents...
