For get about whether the guy is guilty. I just want to know if all of the media attention being paid to the situation will become a distraction for the Colts. Might this be thier undoing?

If it is a distraction then hopefully it will help was win against them. But for him personally, I think he needs to get his act together and do what he can to make things right again.

Hopefully just enough to give jughead a headache. That would be on par with a giraffe having a sore throat or a millipede having athlete's foot.

This is a big reach, Jags02.

I believe the answer would be a direct no, especially when compared to what the team went through between 2005 and 2006, when they won the Super Bowl.  During the 2006 season, Reggie Wayne's brother, Rashad, died and the entire team went to the funeral to support Reggie.  Check me if I'm wrong, but Wayne missed a couple of games throughout that entire situation.  I think that was a much bigger distraction than this.  Colts DT Raheem Brock would miss the season after a car accident before the Redskins game.  That was a time where the Colts could use as many DT's as they could find, and Brock is a very good player.

I also think that the 2005 playoff loss to the Steelers was just another thing hanging over their heads in 2006, combined with the loss of Edgerrin James.  Peyton Manning had the "will he ever win a ring?" questions relentlessly being fired at him.  The entire situation with regards to Tony Dungy's son, James, was perhaps the biggest distraction of any of them.

The thing that I have to ask you is how you worded this question.  You said "all of the media attention."  Nothing has come of this incident for the past six days from official police reports.  ESPN and NFL Network have hardly discussed over this situation.  The Indianapolis Star, the hometown newspaper, has hardly covered it at all.

I'm just not seeing where this has become a huge news story in the media.  Myself, I don't think they have covered it enough.  I haven't read one thing over the past five-six days from something other than profootballtalk.com (who's credibility, like it or not, is seriously questionable), as reported by JacksJags.

Even if he were to be found guilty, I don't think this would be a big deal given the time Harrison missed last season (and the success the team had without him...they won without him in both of the Jaguars games last year) and the fact that he is near the end of his NFL career.

Look at what the Patriots did after SpyGate (which is still going on) last year.  I know they choked in the end, but they went 18-1.

Better yet, the Jaguars had many players arrested before and during the 2007 season.  Look how they did.

Hey ICF/TCT, I think you meant Montae Reagor, Not Brock, Luckily the Colts had just got a Booger stuck on their hoof.

I agree, Little to no distraction if any, And I also believe Dungy's son (James) did distract the team some, But all teams can probably claim some form of distraction when each has 53 players and numerous coaches and family members, It's a long season.

I know I can barely study for my finals with that killer on the loose.  Is he still lying about his involvement?

You all had some good answers. The Colts should be disciplined enough to avoid any distraction here. The thing is, you never know when it comes to this kind of thing how it ultimately effects the players. The guys arrested last year on the Jaguars were young, and relatively new players. One was a backup who rarely sees the field. With Marvin, we're talking about one of the Colts storied veteran players. He's a guy kids should be able to role model themselves after, but I wouldn't want my kid (if I had one) looking at him.

They still got arrested, though.

Harrison hasn't even been arrested.

For the sake of JacksJags' assessment, I'll add on "at least not yet."

Look at the Bengals.  Not all of them are top of the line guys, either.  They still get slammed for it.

Didn't Reggie Williams get picked up for maryjewwanna (Mr. Mackey...) a couple of years ago?
