As much as I think Matt Jones is a punk and just doesnt care, it is in his best interest this year to step up. He is in his contract year, and unless he has an amazing year he will have trouble latching onto anyone next year for more than the league minimum. I have a feeling he will have some renewed energy when the threat of some of those 0's gets taken away.
What a Jaguar fan. "I want Matt to care more.....and he's a punk". No wonder our team gets no respect around the league.

Matt Jones will never be a slot receiver because: 1. He runs sloppy routes. 2. He is scard to get hit. 3. He is too tall. Face it, Northcutt does a great job at being our slot receiver.
On another note, I wouldnt mind us signing Chris Henry, but because JDR is against off-field issues I don't think it will ever happen. There's one more reason why Matt won't be the slot receiver. It's because Mike Walker is about to beat out both Northcutt and Jones for the role. Hear me now and believe me later. Besides, I like Northcutt as the 4th receiver because he already knows all the WR roles. He can literally play any position, and the #4 guy will have opportunities to back up at all positions. Meanwhile, Walker should stick in the slot in order to concentrate on just one role while getting as much playing time as possible. We gave Matt Jones that opportunity as a rookie, and now it's Mike Walker's time. As for Matt Jones, that 5th round pick from the Eagles is looking very tempting. Good post 02. I agree whole heartedly. I also believe that Williamson will see his fair share of playing time as a slot receiver and 4th receiver. There's not much room for Matt on this roster. The only thing that Matt has going for him is that JDR still wants him around. He's a powerful ally to have- just ask Garrard. |

Do you disagree that Jones has not played up to his potential, his athletic potential? He has been horrible. He appears to be lazy and really not care. Do you think me saying that makes him play worse? Does he play that way because some people think that? Absolutely not.
