Garbage time TDs against the Raiders or other blowouts don't mean a thing.

Ask him to do it in meaningful games... He did it in one, at most.

oh so his 9 receptions for 142 yards and 1 TD in two playoff games means nothing?

Which WR are you talking about? I think he was talking about Matt Jones.

we were talking about the same guy.

Oh, ok.  In that case, check the stats again.   Matt Jones had no catches in the first playoff game against Pitt, and 3 for 48 yards and a TD in the 2nd against the Pats.  I double checked because those stats you put up did not look right.  Where are you getting those numbers?

Does the fact that we lost both of those games mean nothing? That's where his postseason stats came from except for a select few catches. Playing from behind means more passing and more airing it out overall.

Does the fact that his stats in our only playoff win of this era were nonexistant mean nothing?

Matt Jones will never be a slot receiver because:

1. He runs sloppy routes.

2. He is scard to get hit.

3. He is too tall.

Face it, Northcutt does a great job at being our slot receiver.

On another note, I wouldnt mind us signing Chris Henry, but because JDR is against off-field issues I don't think it will ever happen.

There's one more reason why Matt won't be the slot receiver. It's because Mike Walker is about to beat out both Northcutt and Jones for the role. Hear me now and believe me later.

Besides, I like Northcutt as the 4th receiver because he already knows all the WR roles. He can literally play any position, and the #4 guy will have opportunities to back up at all positions. Meanwhile, Walker should stick in the slot in order to concentrate on just one role while getting as much playing time as possible. We gave Matt Jones that opportunity as a rookie, and now it's Mike Walker's time.

As for Matt Jones, that 5th round pick from the Eagles is looking very tempting.

I agree with jagabc. Matt Jones is not a slot receiver. If you go back and look at the Houston game and games earlier in his career, he's done better out wide. He will never be a bust head guy over the middle and the Jags should give up on that idea. If they keep him, they need to move him out. If not, let him go.

I 2nd all of the above and hope to see it.

Be it matt jones, mike williams or whoever shows the most promise. I even hear some of you s screaming to cut northcut after having a great year with us. Show some loyalty **** it. If matt jones has a good training camp then I say keep him. Mike Williams has yet to play a down in the nfl so I don't know where all of this "superstar" stuff came from.

I agree we keep Northcutt, I don't know why we wouldn't. He's one of the only players of his "type" that we really have.

But Matt Jones, even if he has a good training camp I'd rather not keep him... because nothing in his history has shown us he can be a reliable option for us throughout the season.

This is the same thing for Chad Owens. Just because he looks really good in practice, doesn't mean we should ever ever ever ever ever touch him again.

2nd on the team in TD receptions last year. Nothing ?

You and others said the same thing about Garrard's wins long long ago. Don't be fooled AGAIN.

Great argument.  You could use that for every sorry player in the league.  He sucks now, but watch out, he'll be good.  How many Matt Jones posters do you have in your room declinometer?

If your a fan then stand up and cheer, otherwise go home to your cozy couch.   This is our house baby!

Idle speculation?

Mike Walker is a TMD kind of player...

PRODUCES, not excuses

Mike Walker, 100 yards rec. in his 4th NFL game.

But, ALL our players are great!

If you think Garrard sucked before he was named the starter you're wrong.
