| | Yes there are other threads, but they are older, and getting rather long. Here is some new "stuff". Per profootballtalk.com Posted by Michael David Smith on May 5, 2008, 7:32 p.m. Sal Paolantonio of ESPN is reporting that Philadelphia police examined bullet holes in two residences today when they returned to the scene of an April 29 shooting allegedly involving Colts wide receiver Marvin Harrison. The report says that police returned to the scene of the crime after getting new information from a third victim of the shooting. On Saturday the Philadelphia Daily News reported that detectives were searching for someone who had contacted them and said he was shot by Harrison. The two previously identified victims were a 32-year-old man shot in the hand and a 2-year-old boy injured by broken glass. Per Paolantonio, police have determined that six bullet casings recovered from the crime scene came from a gun that belongs to Harrison.

| more from pft.comPosted by Michael David Smith on May 5, 2008, 1:21 p.m. Mike Freeman of CBS Sports has a column today that, while withholding judgment about whether Marvin Harrison was involved in the shooting outside his North Philadelphia bar last week, questions why Harrison owned the Belgian gun that is at the center of the investigation. Freeman gives some details about the gun, a Fabrique Nationale 5.7 firearm, noting that it has been advertised for its ability to pierce 48 layers of Kevlar at 50 meters. Writes Freeman: “Does it bother anyone that an NFL player allegedly owns a gun in which its main attraction to potential buyers is the fact that its ammunition can penetrate body armor? Body armor most times worn by police?” It’s probably safe to say that it bothers the NFL. The league’s official policy on guns for all employees, including players, states, “In some circumstances, such as for sport or protection, you may legally possess a firearm or other weapon. However, we strongly recommend that you not do so.”

I'm not going to be a MH apologist if it turns out that he shot somebody, but the hack that wrote this is just stupid.
....Yeah, Marvin was probably planning a casino heist in Atlantic City with that armor piercing Belgian handgun.... |

| | Make fun if you wish, tumbleweed. Someone's shot. Several someone's. One of the someone's was leaving Marvin's bar. After a physical altercation. With Marvin. Shot with a gun. A rare gun. Marvin's GUN. A gun he lied about. A gun in his immediate physical vincinity. Clot fans can only hope that this story has some or most of the facts wrong.

| | nate, I think you are assuming that he has lied. Someone could have taken his gun and used it without his awareness...easily. One of his employees at the bar, possibly. And I don't think that all of the facts have come out yet. I've asked this question and it hasn't got an answer: Where did the report about the alledged lie come from? That's an honest question because I really don't know. And how do you know that Marvin was there?

Again, we are only hearing one side of the story, but unless the police are fabricating some things (100% within the realm of possibility, the police here do as a matter of course), we do have a pretty good idea he lied. If you are one who believes it is reasonable to believe that a man who says HIS GUN is only kept AT HIS HOME, then was used in a shooting, then returned to HIS PLACE of business, then you're my ideal juror. That's a very, very, tough sell. Especially once you add in that the gun was fired at a guy he (supposedly) acknowledges having a physical altercation with.

| Relax a bit on Marvin... I know it looks bad, but let's wait and see how it all plays out.
Remember Maurice Jones-Drew was reportedly arrested for beating up a kid at Denny's with Ricky Manning Jr. prior to the 2006 NFL draft... as it turned out later, video surveillance showed him leaving the scene before the incident even occurred and charges were dismissed.
you don't have to be a bad person to be caught up in a bad situation or accused of wrongdoing. remember that.
.. on vince young
David: he will find a way to throw this game away
David: even tho they already lost
Naddy: i need chargers to get a pick 6 to help out my playoff challenge
David: me too
David: that'd be nice

Harrison readily admits to a physical altercation with the man. To add to that, the gun used to fire several shots was found at his place of business after he told police it NEVER leaves his home. The gun is a very rare weapon. Regardless of Harrison's guilt or innocence, the rather public information is piling up and isn't promising to this point. I guess one can only hope he isn't the shooter, but I've given up on assuming athletes are better people in any way than the general public.

| I just heard Arlie on 1010XL talking about the situation and some sports radio guy with a show in Philly was interviewed on a Miam sports show and he is claiming that it was a gang land hit on Marvin because of something connected to his dad. No telling how accurate this is but the story just keeps getting weirder.
