I just might puke if that is the pick.

Don't worry, Tebow probably won't come out early anyways.

What are our main needs going to be next year?  I'm thinking OL (might not resign Meester and Barnes both), SS (who knows what will happen there this year) and LB (Mike P may be gone soon).   Oh yeah, and RB may be drafted pretty high next year with Fred one year closer to retirement.

These are in no particular order:

Safety - Regardless of Sensabaugh or Nelson, I think we need another solid guy here to end the constant yearly shuffle of backups.

QB - At some point we need to bring in a developmental guy with good physical tools and athleticism that can be a starter 4 years from now.  I don't think Smith is that kid.

LB - We need to have 4 LB'ers capable of starting.  Assuming Mike P. is gone, we'd need to bring a guy in.

DE - How much does Spicer have left in the tank?  How healthy is Hayward?  Can Mincey or Wyche get it done?

RB - You're not going to fill the hole left by Fred Taylor wih one player.  Mo Drew will need some help.

TE - I believe we will need to improve the overall dynamics of this group at some point.  I'd be looking at guys that are more the hybrid WR/TE.  6'3" - 6'4" 245 pounds with good athleticism.  More along the lines of an H-Back like Chris Cooley.

OL - I view Collier as a ORT.  I don't see the athleticism I think you need for OLT.  I'd like to see us bring in a more athletic lineman that has some versatility.  The other thing to consider is the eventual replacement of Meester.

Depending on how Landri and McDaniel play, defensive tackle could be a target.

IMO, QB and DE won't be needs next year.  We are set at QB with Garrard and Lemon for a while.  Maybe two years from now we draft a developmental type guy.  As far as DE, we just drafted two this year, so I don't see that being a need next yearl.  The rest I agree with your take on.

In the pass happy AFC, no team can have enough pass rush DEs. Now the Jags don't need to move up in Rd 1 to draft a DE, but if someone like Lawrence Jackson or Phillip Merling were to fall to the end of Rd 1, either of those two type players would only upgrade the Defense.

Agreed, maybe not a star, but at least a starting-quality third Safety. I think that this position has taken on the same status as CB when we had the Kenny Wright-Dewayne Washington-Veteran to be named later revolving door going.

I think that we are always going to have one position that gets addressed through patchwork FA, and it's just the Safety's turn.

You never know, the Smith kid might be able to make it. But he is definitely going to have to fill out a little more. You can never have enough QB's on the roster to develop. If you're paying a guy like M. Shula, you might as well have him earn his money.

Agreed, about the idea of 4 starting-caliber LB's on the roster. Right now we are pretty much there and if Iwuh comes around, we might have five by midseason. I think that this is the new strength of the team.

If Fred starts showing real signs of wearing down, will this be a position that we trade up for? We have had a stud at RB for so long now, and I really, really like the 2 RB Offense. The problem is that players like this don't have much of a shelf life to wait on a roster.

I would really like to see the team start developing a Center. I was drinking the D. Norman kool-aid there for a while, and while he is a good backup, the drop off from Meester to him is palpable. You can never have enough big guys.

Go heavy early.
