jagabc6893 (5/2/2008)You have to remember, a back up is only oneinjuryaway from starting. So I want the best back up possible myself.I would felt alot better with Sammy Knight backing up Sensabaugh. As far as LBWilliams, yes I think a guy's40 time (one I saw for Williams was 4.94) could cause him tobe considered slow. It's funny how fans see things so differently.

I do think we would move Williams to safety before we'd start Pierson Prioleau...I even think there's a decent chance Prioleau gets cut for Fudge. As for Williams, see this article:

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/nfl/2008-04-02-usc-pro-day_N.htm

"• Another late-round prospect who helped his stock considerably was versatile linebacker Thomas Williams. He was invited to the combine despite starting only 14 of 49 games for the Trojans, and struggled in clocking in at 4.86 seconds. With times in the mid-4.6s Wednesday, however, Williams likely assured himself of being drafted."

I'll take mid-4.6s from a linebacker who is a special teams standout and can play all three linebacker spots ANY day.

Everybody knows U.S.C.'s 40  is really only 38 yards on Pro Day.  There times are always magically faster than the combine.    I thought a 4.71 was the best he ran at his Pro Day.  Oh well, if he is a stud special teamer it will be worth the pick.
