dre moore was my favorite DT available after the top 3... but he just recenlty went, i would have loved to see them try to trade up and get him... with red bryant left and frank okam, we need to move up and get one these guys and this draft could not have gone better... trade both 5ths, maybe a player if necessary and move up to get one...

we would then have drafted 3 guys that could plausibly be starters as soon as opening day, but all 3 will eventually start... make it happen and ill have the biggest smile on my face possible

Rashean the I-N-T Machine Mathis- best CB in the game
TMD's "predictions" so far for 08 season:
-Minnesota and Philly in the NFC championship game with Minnesota in the Superbowl
-Denver Broncos in the AFC championship game
-Houston a top 5 rushing team in the 09 season
-Houston seeded higher in the playoffs than the jags
- jags finishing 9-7 at best
- Browns finish better than the Jags
-Jags finish last in the AFC South after a bad showing in the preseason
TMD and I have a bet for $100 on the Jags wins
-Denver winning the AFC West LOL
-Bengals over Jags 24-21

what I'm thinking now is - the Jags might wait until after the draft and re-sign Grady Jackson to help plug in the hole next to Henderson.

If Okam is gone by rd. 5 where do you think we'll go. I hope Carl Nicks is still there.

It's possible I'm overrating the player.    But from what I've seen of Tony McDaniel,    the Jags might just have a long term starting solution on the roster.   McDaniel seems athletic and explosive.    His wing span is attention getting.      Though having many options at DT  ( and DE ) makes a great deal of sense,   my gut feeling is the team brass is counting on McDaniel heavily in 2008.

How bout if we take a slow LB from USC who "might be good on Special Teams"!   That would be much better than Carl Nicks or a SS.  Then we can get 188 pound, career back up SS from the Redskins.  That's what I would do.

What's wrong with bringing in a "career backup" safety if his role is going to be...a backup? Especially when you can expect to see some of Brian Williams at the safety spot, and we could very well end up with Jamaal Fudge and/or Michael Grant playing some safety as well.

Also, what exactly makes a guy "slow"? His 40 time? His NCAA Football 2K7 speed rating? Williams isn't "maybe" going to be good on special teams; the guy was a special teams captain at USC, and gives every single play 100% effort. He could very well be our best special teamer. He's not only a great coverage man, but a great and willing blocker on the return team as well. These are the type of guys you don't hear about in the paper but that make a good team great. Think Patriots and Larry Izzo.

You have to remember, a back up is only one injury away from starting.  So I want the best back up possible myself.  I would felt alot better with Sammy Knight backing up Sensabaugh.  As far as LB Williams, yes I think a guy's 40 time (one I saw for Williams was 4.94) could cause him to be considered slow.  It's funny how fans see things so differently.

I do think we would move Williams to safety before we'd start Pierson Prioleau...I even think there's a decent chance Prioleau gets cut for Fudge. As for Williams, see this article:

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/nfl/2008-04-02-usc-pro-day_N.htm

"• Another late-round prospect who helped his stock considerably was versatile linebacker Thomas Williams. He was invited to the combine despite starting only 14 of 49 games for the Trojans, and struggled in clocking in at 4.86 seconds. With times in the mid-4.6s Wednesday, however, Williams likely assured himself of being drafted."

I'll take mid-4.6s from a linebacker who is a special teams standout and can play all three linebacker spots ANY day.
