I have Harvey at 41, and I was worried I overrated him. He doesn't bother playing the run.

derrick harvey...they are reaching bigtime here

I didn't even Harvey in my top 20. Bad move if the Jags select him. And...they do. Wowsas.

Harvey is a major reach at 8.

Myself and all other fans who watched the last game for the Jags saw us hit Brady how many times? We watched and waited and saw Brady with all the time make completions. Everyone shouted put some pressure on him and we can win. We didn’t the Giants did and won the Superbowl.

Saturday, January 12, 2008 | Game recap

Quarterback Tom Brady was the difference in the Patriots’ win over the Jaguars. Brady completed 26 of 28 passes for 262 yards, three touchdowns, no interceptions and a 141.4 passer rating.

Brady was so dominant that the Patriots didn’t punt until the final seconds of the game, when they were in clock-killing mode. Brady was so dominant that the Jaguars didn’t have a pass-defensed.

It was a case of pitch and catch all night, and the Jaguars tried every strategy imaginable to slow down Brady. The Jaguars opened in “nickel,” then switched to a 3-3-5 alignment. After halftime, they played 4-3 “Cover Two” and “nickel.” Nothing worked.

In addition to Brady’s exceptional passing performance, running back Laurence Maroney added 122 yards rushing, including consecutive runs of 29 and 11 yards that kind of sealed the deal.

“Unfortunately, Tom didn’t slip on the way to work,” Del Rio joked. “Brady was very, very good. We made him be patient. He was very patient; willing to nibble.”

Now day 1 of the draft, I was not to excited with pick number 26. All of a sudden while waiting for Baltimore to make their pick the unexpected happened, a trade.  Jacksonville grew a set of B---s. They took my #3 DE pick Derrick Harvey and a GATOR at that. Next came round three as I held the wife off from going out to eat as I waited for our next pick. laceName>TampalaceName> laceType>BaylaceType> was up at pick #52, another trade Jacksonville picks my #7 DE choice Quentin Groves.

I think Jack and the crew did a great job and now I can’t wait to see these DEs in action.  Glad to be a season ticket holder for the 2008 Superbowl Jaguars who ARE the contenders for the Superbowl.

In response to what the TEXANS have to say, just wait till 13:00 Sept 28th.

Good job Jack!

Still, most consider that a HUGE reach, and while what you guys gave up wasn't too bad to move up to eighth overall, it was probably a lot to give up for Harvey. The Jags are largely being looked at as one of the teams that panicked, but if you have to have your guy... but if he was "the guy", why did they move up AGAIN to pick up Groves??? Looks similar to what the Titans did some odd years ago with Schobel, Laboy, and Odom, only difference being that the Titans actually traded down, but all were still high picks. De by committee.

Don't worry. You're not the only team being looked at as potential draft day boneheads. With WR being the most glaring need on the roster, the Titans select... Chris Johnson, RB.

Who is most? Have you seen the artcles posted on here from NFL Draft Countdown and Yahoo?

"As a matter of fact what I do is probably more of a service to the team than what you do, since I alert Wayne Weaver that his GM decision was a bad one. And it was. If Weaver listened to you people, Harris would be here forever, and the team would never win anything of substance.

Once Weaver listens to me, and he will, eventually, we might then get a GM in here that can make the right personnel moves in here that can lead us to a superbowl."

If selecting two potential 10 sack a year guys in the first two rounds of the draft is considered a bonehead move, then lets hope the Jags continue to be boneheaded from here on out.

BTW, did the Titans get that kind of production out of the trio they selected?

Harvey was slotted to anywhere from 11-15. Many had him going to the Bills at 11 and some even had him going to Cincy. It just wasn't that much of a reach. I just hope he has a rookie year as good Mario.

Exactly. I'm not sure why some consider it that big of a reach at all. No way he was going to get past Carolina at 13, and then when you look at the trade chart and the value we got for him...

I read somewhere that Bill Parcells had Harvey rated 4th overall on his value board. I dont think its a reach at all.

One of the Texans fans said he had Harvey at 41. LOL
