How about Matt Jones and our 5TH??????

He isn't coming here. But I wouldn't be surprised to see Jones traded.

Stigma (4/26/2008)
The big rumor during the middle of Rd 2 was that the Bucs had agreed to trade Pick 52 to the Dolphins for Jason Taylor. Well as we all are well aware of by now, that trade did not happen. Instead of trading Pick 52 to the Dolphins it was traded to the Jags which the team used on obtaining Quentin Groves, the 2nd DE the team selected in the first two rounds of the draft.

So now the Dolphins are stuck with Jason Taylor's 9 Mil dollar salary with nothing to show for it. Perhaps Taylor will be traded tomorrow for a Rd 3 pick, which is what the Jags reportedly had offered the Dolphins. But what happens if the Dolphins can't move Jason Taylor for a Rd 3 pick or even a Rd 4 pick, would you be opposed to trading the Jags last Rd 5 pick for Jason Taylor?

What you would have to do is list all the DEs now on the Jags' roster, come up with a list of 5 or 6 who stay, and then decide which good young player has to be cut to make room for a 34 year old DE who might retire after just one season.

After drafting Harvey and Groves, I really don't think we have room for Jason Taylor.

While I seriously doubt that it will happen, getting Jason Taylor for a Rd 5 pick would be worth having him for just one year. As far as the other talented players still on the roster that the Jags want to keep, all they have to do is have a paper cut and the Jags put them on IR. Seems like the team does this every year.

You make a good point.   I might change my mind.

It would be a hell of a deal but I don't see it happening.

After saying acquiring Taylor would cost a first-rounder, I doubt Parcells backs WAY DOWN and accepts a 5th rounder.

Might as well hope he is the veteran to guide the young ones for another year (I'm sure he can help Merling.) If Taylor has another good year this year, I'm sure Parcells would like to try this whole thing (trading Taylor) again. Yes, he'll be another year older, but there will probably be a team that thinks that one year of Taylor means the Super Bowl.
