I say we draft the guy for one reason only.  Check out one of his answers.

Yes, I just thought I'd try to loosen up the tension with the thought of drafting Josh Johnson.

Seriously, if we can find a 4th round pick, I would love Josh Johnson.

He's extremely accurate, and had a Garrardesque 1 INT in 301 attempts. He has a fine arm and he's very mobile.

He, obviously, played against very weak competition. He's also raw. However, that's perfect for this team. Garrard is locked up long-term so we can afford to wait and develop a guy like this. Garrard's money is front-loaded, so if Johnson develops it wouldn't hurt us to cut/trade Garrard. If he doesn't, we have more than enough to cut bait on Johnson and find somebody else.

I like the way you think lol I agree. He could easily turn out to be a stud.

im surprised he is still around.  QBs usually get overdrafted.  i figured he'd be off the board now.  as well as john david booty.

What's your take on Johnson?

I thought Josh Johnson and Kevin O'Connell were the two best longterm QB prospects in the 2nd day.

I didnt really know anything about Johnson other than his great stats.  and the fact his coach was Jim Harbaugh.  but you kinda figure maybe his stats were due in part to the lousy competition.  Then I saw him play in the East/West shrine game and I was blown away.  the guy was the best player on the field by a wide margin.  and there was some decent talent out there.  he had a big arm.  made some great throws down the field.  he is 6'3 so he is tall enough.  he is kinda thin but he could bulk up some.  plus he has the ability to make plays with his feet.  he is a great athlete.

he isnt the kind of guy who comes in right away.  but put him on the bench.  let him learn for a couple years.  just like we did with Garrard.  The few clips Ive seen and the East/West game, his accuracy looked great.  and he had big time arm strength.  but they say his accuracy isnt his strong suit.  but early on it wasnt Garrard's either.

I think Johnson is the ideal kind of QB youd want to draft and develop.
