AP: The U.N. secretary-general says the steeply rising price of food has developed into a global crisis, urges immediate action.

Something needs to happen! One thing would be to get a handle on gas prices. That would fix a lot.

I heard on the Radio yesterday that they are rationing Rice out West in California. It only makes since this is because of the whole Global Warming Scam and the Bio-feul crap.

It makes no sense to use FOOD to raise cattle, feed people, and fuel cars.

just a fan, I cheer the good and boo the bad.

I don't get it. Who gains from pretending the earth is warming?

There was a story on AOL about Sam's Club and Costco rationing rice. I think with the industrialization of foreign nations it sounds logical that they would have more money to bid up the prices of commodities and maybe that's the reason for the run up in the prices of commodities like food, oil and precious metals. I heard gold topped $1,000 an ounce a couple of days ago.

One factor being blamed for the price hikes is the use of government subsidies to promote the use of corn for ethanol production. An estimated 30% of America’s corn crop now goes to fuel, not food. (or animal feed)

“It takes around 400 pounds of corn to make 25 gallons of ethanol,” Mr. Senauer, also an applied economics professor at Minnesota, said. “It’s not going to be a very good diet but that’s roughly enough to keep an adult person alive for a year.”

1.  Research scientists who share the $6B per year taxpayer-funded climate-research pie.
2.  Companies that sell carbon credits.
3.  Companies that broker carbon credits (Enron was pushing this).
4.  Countries that want to cripple the U.S. economy.
5.  Politicians who can scare voters into giving up the little freedom they still have.

Margaret Thatcher was one of the first to promote the Global Warming scare.  In her case it was to convince the environmental crowd to allow her to bring back nuclear power.

So, question is, where does it stop?? HUH?

I haul alfalfa on my trucks to the coast...mainly for people with horses, but about 100 loads a year go to dairies. I charge a dairy farmer xxx amount of dollars per load, or per ton. I gotta get mine. So, on the flipside, he needs xxx amount of dollars to sell his milk. So, who gets the buck passed on to them?? Not me...you do.

Now, what is the driving force behind that truck going up and down the road?? Something that almost takes half of all my money?? Fuel. So, the higher fuel goes, the higher my price goes, the higher stuff will become, the higher food prices will be, the higher the fuel goes......

WHERE DOES IT STOP??

About time. Finally, I get my space back!!

I don't think it will stop. What's the catalyst for it to stop? I don't see one.

And I think the ethanol thing is maybe only partly to blame because wasn't there an annual surplus of corn in the US and that's the reason the government started paying fuel subsidies for it? Weren't they shipping it overseas to underdeveloped countries for free and letting the rest of it essentially rot?
