| just a brief blurb I heard earlier today was that the Bucs and Eagles were in talks to trade Lito Sheppard to the Bucs. (not sure what it involved)
and here's something at the bottom of NFL.com's "latest"
http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d806a3052&template=with-video&confirm=true
there's been only 1 offer for Bengals WR C Johnson - the Redskins offered their 1st and 3rd round this year for him with a new deal that'd have a guaranteed $21 mil !
how would that help the Jags, if they pulled the trigger on that trade and the Redskins would be out of the first round?
(not that I think they would unless the Bengals drafted a speedy WR with their other 1st rounder) |

| | http://www.kffl.com/team/35/nfl Buccaneers | Team meets with Sheppard Thu, 24 Apr 2008 13:36:39 -0700 Jay Glazer, of FOXSports.com, reports the Tampa Bay Buccaneers met with Philadelphia Eagles CB Lito Sheppard Wednesday, April 23. The Buccaneers now appear to be the frontrunner for Sheppard and a deal could be reached as early as Saturday, April 26. The trade could involve a second-round pick plus an additional pick or player. From the sound of this, this would be a good trade for the Eagles. Lito Sheppard has plenty of wear and tear on him. Also, this is a deep CB draft.

| Gruden seems to be one of those guys who loves surrounding himself with veterans. He was in Oakland when they signed Gannon, Rice, Trace Armstrong, Romanowski and Rod Woodson. Since he was in Tampa, he has tried to get something out of Jeff Garcia, Charlie Garner, Pettigout, Kevin Carter and maybe aging vets.

| | Could this mean that the Bucs will go after Brian Brohm with Pick 20 instead of a CB? |

| | While admittedly this is all conjecture on my part, Marcus Spears - DE/DT for the Cowboys could be had in a draft day deal. I am thinking that if the Jags offer up a Rd 4 pick to the Cowboys PLUS Matt Jones the Jags could get Marcus Spears in a Jags uniform. Perhaps the Cowboys would take Pick 143 in Rd 5 instead, but that again is merely speculation on my part. The Cowboys traded away their Rd 4 pick to the Titans for Pac-Man Jones, so the 4th Rd pick from the Jags would replace the one they traded away. Further the Cowboys like reclamation projects so somebody with the talent of Matt Jones could appeal to them. WR does appear to be a need position for the Cowboys so it could work out nice for the two teams. The Jags would be getting a DE to backup Paul Spicer and eventually replace him in a year or two. I believe in the right system Marcus Spears could shine. He seems ill-suited for the Cowboys 3-4 system, but in a 4-3 system I think he is much better. Clearly he is very good at stopping the run. He is even big enough to play some DT. Here is an article suggesting that Marcus Spears could be available on draft day. http://www.star-telegram.com/332/story/604609.html |
