| The Jaguars trade:
_____________
1(26) = 700 pts
3(71) = 235 pts
4(125) = 47 pts
_____________
982 points
The Falcons trade:
_____________
2(37) = 530 pts
2(48) = 420 pts
5(138) = 37 pts
_____________
987 points
Both teams benefit from the trade. Atlanta gets to select arguably the best defensive player in college football and the BAP at #26 as well. Jacksonville gets a big trio of picks in the second round where they have been very successful drafting in the past. The two teams drafts would look like this:
Jaguars
_______
2(37)
2(48)
2(58)
3(89)
5(138)
5(143)
5(158)
5(159)
Falcons
________
1(3)
1(26)
2(34)
3(68)
3(71)
3(98)
4(103)
4(125)
6(172)
7(212)
7(232)

| If the draft goes in a manner that I'm expecting, I would definitely make this draft if in the Jags position. The difference between pick # 26 and pick # 37 doesn't seem that significant, based on the needs of the Jags. One or two of the players the Jags are targeting at pick # 26 could realistically fall to pick #37.

| Obviously I'd want to wait until the Jags are on the clock to see who's there. And then I'd try and work Atlanta's 34th pick into the deal. I like the idea but those trade value chart are kinda bollocks, and I bet you could make a better deal happen. Something like 1(26) and 3(71) for 2(34) and 2(48). The Falcons might want a late pick thrown in, but it's close enough to get done.

According to economists, the value of a player peaks around the 41st pick (value as in what you spend vs. what you get). So having a lot of picks around there is good.

(the surplus line represents a player's value and peaks in round 2)
That having been said, for a team a player or two away from a championship with plenty of cap room, I'd want that 1st round pick if someone I liked was available. This is considered a weak draft, so trading down may not have as much value as it normally would. |

| i would do that trade, imaging this draft
kenny phillips (37) - could start or could get minimal playing time, would excel on special teams
lawrence jackson (48) - could start depending on reggie haywards status, but will be significant PT
trevor laws or red byrant (58) - either player would be awesome, will have a hard battle with rob mierer but will get rotated well

In case anyone needs a clue.
Pick a number between 1 and 100, Add 52, Now subtract 7, Add 4, Subtract 13, Subtract the number you started with, Divide by 2, Add 7, Multiply by 4 then subtract 9 ... Viola there's your clue.
