| To all you cementheads that are trashing Calais Campbell....
I'll tell you right now that Campbell will go on to be a better NFL DE than Merling, Groves, L Jackson, and many others.
Harvey, Gholston and Long would be the only DE's I'd take ahead of Campbell.
Congratulations to the 2008 WORLD Champions, your Philadelphia Phillies!

I definitely believe the Jags have interest in Calais Campbell, but they also know that the Redskins and possibly the Titans have interest also. |

Redskins have a hard-on for Malcolm Kelly as well.
Will be interesting to see what they do on draft day. |

| | I may be wrong, but I believe that Malcolm Kelly might be had by the Redskins with their Rd 2 pick. The guy that I heard the Redskins really wanted is Phillip Merling. |

I REALLY hope this plays out that way in the draft.
Let Campbell fall to us.
I'd bet the poor combine for Campbell is the main reason for so many people falling out of favor with him. Fools are they, as the combine is usually fools gold, whose stars usually never go on to match that success in the pros. Some of the more famous "combine" stars of recent:
Matt Jones Vernon Davis Mike Mamula LeRon Landry
The game of football isn't played on a track, so I have no idea why year after year, fans/ GM's/ scouts/ etc etc keep making the same mistakes year after year in OVER-valuing great combine numbers as if that is the be all end all for projecting great college players to the pro game.
More often than not, the best combine players bust at the next level.
I put way more stock football stuff over track stuff when it comes to projecting college players.
Congratulations to the 2008 WORLD Champions, your Philadelphia Phillies!

| 2 things you just can't coach - size and speed.
Groves may have the speed and decent height, we're talking about a player who has to be on the field every down and not just situation. Granted, if the Jags chose him, I wouldn't have a problem with it, but can he be on the field that long?
Campbell has the size - tall as (if not taller) than John Henderson - how do you pass a ball over a 6'8"(ish) DE and 6'7" DT next to each other? His speed is in question, but then again, when the Jags were choosing between Henderson and Haynesworth, didn't everyone say "Henderson has back problems, he won't be any good." or that he wasn't as quick as Haynesworth .... he's worked fine so far.
I'd have no problems with either... if it came down to the 3 though : Merling, Campbell and Groves - I'd probably take them in that order (but wouldn't have problems with any of them) |

| | http://youtube.com/watch?v=B3vOum2xU60 If they pass that up after seeing Brady sit in the pocket like it was a flag football game, then they really have no clue how to handle a 1st rd. draft pick. Just my opinion.
My little girl has her teal & black on, how bout your kid?

People think that Calais had such an apocryphal season last year, but it wasn't that bad. Sacks and TFL were behind the top 4-5 guys in this class, but his QBH (QB Hurries - very important stat in the NFL that only teams pay attention to - not a media stat) was as good as anyone sans Gholston and Chris Long last year.

Last month you were sayying that Campbell was a better prospect than Harvey and were comparing their #'s. Now Harvey is the better choice?

Landry was ultra productive in college and had a good rookie season. Vernon Davis was also going to be a possible first rd pick before being drafted, but with his combine he shot into the top 10. And he has shown flashes, but injuries and an awful offense have limited him |

| Larry (4/22/2008) Over on the 1010XL OnDemand, they had SFR's interview with Calais Campbell.
He had some interesting things to say...
~ He has talked to the Jaguars more than any other team and they have shown the most interest in drafting him.
which is interesting because Randy Shannon said the Jags hadnt called to talk to him personally at all. youd think if we were seriously interested in Campbell that we would have talked to the head coach. unless of course Shannon lied to spread a little misinformation. or maybe our guys talked with larry coker.
