| | Does anyone understand what the ramifications to the Cincinnati organization would be if they traded away Chad Johnson and his Cap hit? It has been reported that if he is traded away, he will count as 8 million dollars in dead money against the Cap. Why in the world would any team strap themselves down like that? It just doesn't make sense for the one party who holds all of the cards (the team) to do this. The guy is 30 years old and will probably want a contract along the lines of what Jerry Porter got with us. Do we really want to have that much money tied up in that position? I am not saying that he can't come in here and contribute, and contribute right away. But why would Cincinnati want to cave to him? It just really doesn't make any sense for this kind of thing to happen.

Not to mention that if they were to cave in to CJ, any other disgruntled Bengal player now has the power to step up his game and then issue a similar ultimatum to the team.

| | I'd be nervous about giving up a #1 for him, but a 2nd round? you bet! I'm nervous about his "shenanigans", but he's too talented not to take a shot. Then again, I'm still expecting the Jags to get Taylor, so what do I know? Porter and Johnson on the outside, Reggie in the slot, Mike Walker and Northcutt to go 4 and 5 wide....I'm liking that idea. Send your d-backs deep to cover our receivers? No prob...we'll run it down your throats....play up for the run? We burn you deep....sounds like a certain perennial AFC South div winner's philosophy...except we have the D to back it up! |

I think it sends a bad message to the Jacksonville community. The Jags have had their share of discipline problems...and now they're going to bring in someone with Johnson's legal problems?

| | Legal trouble? He's a bit of a jerk on the field and is ostentatious, true enough...but legal problems? He's great off-the-field. |

| Everyones concerned with his "antics" and whatever but he just wants to win. Cmon he doesnt have legal issues off the field, he is one of the best, still in his prime and wants to do something like Moss did last year. He wants to be on a legitimate contender. He will bring in fans, revenue and TDs. I think the only knock on him is that he is a sore loser that gets very vocal about it. I dont expect alot of losses this year so his whining would be minimal. Bring him to Jax

| | What if we have a season similar to 2006? Is that a situation that you really want to have a Chad Johnson in? Jacksonville has a .559 strength of schedule next season, the third highest in the league. I don't think that it is too far-fetched to admit that having a 8-7 record going into the last game of the season going into Baltimore is a possibility. In a tense, high-pressure situation in which the team hasn't had a ton of success, and they really need a win, do you really want a guy that swung at a coach during halftime of a playoff game on your team? Oh by the way, that player and team lost that day as well. C. Johnson is a great player when things are going well, but now we have seen him when things don't go so well. No thanks. I'll take the tough guys first.

| mwfsu (4/21/2008) He's too much trouble. No thanks.
What makes Jerry Porter any better than Chad Johnson
2 Questions...
1) What is "good" about his personality. Clearly the most selfish player in the league.
2) When did we get Mike Williams?
Again, What makes Jerry Porter any less selfish than Chad Johnson?
