| Stigma (4/20/2008) Personally, I could not see any scenario where the Jags would pass on Jonathan Stewart if he were to be available when the Jags select.I am sure it will be talked about but I don't think it's a given they would take him if he is there. I personally think they will trade down with Atlanta or Baltimore if there is interest. What do you think such a move would say to Maurice Jones-Drew and Greg Jones?

The jags were caught off guard when Jimmy Smith retired and are still looking for his replacement. Freddie T is now making noise about calling it quits. They won't be caught off guard again, especially, if Jonathan Stewart is there for the taking. We don't need to take a running back so high, but if he's sitting there then we'll snatch him up.
As far as a message that it would send? It wouldn't say anything to MJD except that we are a running back by committee team. To Greg Jones it would say, "You're just our fullback." Which he already knows. As far ad taylor goes, well he already knows the score. |

| | OK, after actually watching the video clip of Ireland saying "defense," I've updated my own mock to coincide. I still find it fishy that they've only negotiated with Jake Long, but maybe those negotiations went south, and when we're talking south of Miami we're talking really far south. This new mock eliminated my prior prediction of a Raiders/Cowboys trade (McFadden's stock has dropped a tad), but includes two new trades: one involving the Chiefs and one involving the Jaguars. For starters, I'm going along with Jags2DaDeath's assumption that the Vikings trade for Derrick Allen will go through. Then, as I re-made my mock, someone fell who I never expected to fall. I looked back over the picks to make sure it made sense, and subsequently concluded that if Derrick Harvey makes it to the Lions pick, and the Lions actually pass on him as I'm predicting here, Harvey should fall all the way to the Eagles pick at #19. The Eagles are mainly looking at WRs, but with a deep draft class at that position they do appear willing to trade down. Meanwhile, #19 is close enough for the Jaguars to make their move. * literally erupts when the Jaguars make Harvey their first pick. At the same time, Bucs fans are disappointed after praying he'd fall one more spot. JAGS02's 2008 MOCK DRAFT (updated 4-20-08) TRADES: - Chiefs trade Jared Allen for Vikings #17 and #47.
- Eagles #19 pick for Jaguars #26 and #89 picks.

| | In the post's first draft... They would select RB Jonathan Stewart if available at pick 26 and the top DEs were off the board. Stewart is a top 15 talent, that many have graded out similarly to Mendenhall. Also, Kenny Phillips is strictly a free safety, and Reggie Nelson will not be switched to CB or SS. In 02's draft... I don't think DE Derrick Harvey will slip to 19, to allow for a less painful trade up. However, if he did, I like the trade (assuming its for our 1st and one of the 3rds). |

I see a trade with the Eagles as a possibilty with Matt Jones involved with the trade. They were hot for him when we drafted him and they need wide receivers. It would be nice if it was our ones swaped with Matt but a fifth may be needed to make that happen. If that doesn't happen I see us drafting best player available or moving down in the draft. This pick is based off of what falls to us at 26. If a high rated need player doesn't fall I see us moving down. |

I personally feel that the Jags are going to either move up or down depending on the way the darft plays out. I like Jackson out of USC and I like Laws, but I think both are reaches at 26.

| | Here is how I think the Jags draft falls out. I think that the Jags will work out a trade with Tampa Bay sending them Picks 26 (Rd 1) and 89 (Rd 3) to move up to Pick 20. With Pick 20 the Jags will select Phillip Merling - DE - Clemson. In Rd 2, I think the Jags go heavy and draft Red Bryant - DT - Texas A&M to replace Marcus Stroud in the DT rotation. When the Jags are on the clock with Pick 71 in Rd 3, they will end up sending it and Pick 158 (Rd 5) to the Dolphins for Jason Taylor. The rest of the Jags draft will look like this: Rd 4 (125): Jack Ikegwuonu - CB - Wisconsin Rd 5 (143): Dennis Dixon - QB - Oregon Rd 5 (159): Gary Barnidge - TE - Louisville They keynote of this draft will be to rebuild the D-Line. Phillip Merling will rotate at the LDE position with Paul Spicer and Jason Taylor will rotate with Reggie Hayward at the RDE spot. |

| | You know something Stigma... I can really see Jack and Shack trading away one of those 5's for a pair of 6's and a 7. I think that this team has been in such a talent acquisition mode for so long, I don't think that they can stand the idea of not having picks late in the Second Day. I have no idea who they would go after, but it wouldn't surprise me one bit if that's what they did.
Go heavy early.
