| HYPHY32 (4/19/2008) It's always funny how TMD blames our first round pick on Harris but will not credit him for any other pick. Minus Williams, Lewis, and Nelson
Not true.
I give Harris the bulk of the credit/ blame for all of our first DAY picks (rds 1-3) not just first rounders.
Harris has done very well in the 2nd round. I won't take that away from him.
By the time you get to the 4th round picks and lower, the more the scouts/ other front office execs are involved in the choice.
Congratulations to the 2008 WORLD Champions, your Philadelphia Phillies!

| I would like to know from TMD, which GM's are out there that are better than Shack. And he better list at least 25 with the amount of moaning he does.
TMD on Mike Walker Sep.7: "because he stinks" "Why don't you get it? WTH has this player done, besides be an OTA wonder?" "In the exhibition games, he's shown eggo hands." "It's like you people are truly shocked/ mystified/ surprised that Harris produced another bust." FREE JAGSTUNNA!!!!!! PRAISE MOD

And maybe just maybe Shack gets the info and video on these players and helps make the decision or he doesn't do anything after the second or third round picks.

The Mad Dog (4/19/2008)
jashank2005 (4/19/2008) just think....by this time next week.....mad dog's 2007 Super Bowl caliber Miami Dolphins will be picking #1. And his other SB fave the 49ers would be picking 7th if they didnt trade it away
Even if this was accurate, which it isn't, it does nothing to disprove how poor Shack Harris has been with the Jags 1st rounders.
Which is why you resort to the above crap....You simply cannot defendJH's choices.
I can and happily will defend JH and JDRs choices that make up 15 out of 22 of last years starters onthis winning team. That number is likley to go up next year too and funnily enough every man and his dog is picking us to do well.
JDR should be included only when it refers to cleaning up James Harris' MESS. As in 2004 when he made the correct gutsy call to release Harris' BUST Hugh Douglas, and in 2007 when JDR made the gutsy call to release Harris' BUST Byron Leftwich.
In 2003, JDR wanted Terrell Suggs. Harris totally ignored JDR's wishes. JDR proven right there, too.
Thats why Harris' power is diminishing & God-willing, his sorry arse will be out the door within the calendar year, and this team can HOPEFULLY find an upgrade for the GM position. It shouldn't be too hard, with the bar being set so low.
Please post a picture of you with the guys the next time you are in the War Room, TMD. Because obviously you are an insider that knows who wanted which player and who want to cut which player. I mean, the rest of us just have to guess who wanted Brady Quinn in the first last season when DG was about to have a huge season. We don't know who put the first round price on Garrard and would not settle for less when almost everyone wanted to trade David for whatever we could get. After all, Quinn Gray was the best QB on the roster, right?
Do us all a favor and stop acting like you have some insider information. We don't know what goes on behind closed doors and who wanted to draft, sign or cut who. Anyone can cherry pick mistakes and make up facts to lay blame. The truth is that the Jags are much better than they were 5 years ago and only maybe 8-10 people know how much of that is due to Shack Harris. So unless you are really Wayne Weaver, Paul Vance, JDR or someone else who has access to the closed door meetings, please stop posting guesses as to who wanted whom disguised as facts.

| | TMD, Here's a little clue as to why you and your opinion simply don't matter. "There was only one area in which we could not find any correlation between wins and success in the draft, and that was in the area of success with high or first-day draft choices. In fact, only nine clubs (four playoff teams) selected more than 50 percent of their 2007 starters on the first day of the draft between 2003-05, while 17 teams (six playoff clubs) drafted less than 50 percent of their ’07 starters on the first day." That's from this article by ProFootballWeekly....where we are ranked 5th in overall drafting since 2003. http://www.profootballweekly.com/PFW/NFLDraft/Draft+Extras/2008/recapintro.htm More info: http://www.profootballweekly.com/PFW/NFLDraft/Draft+Extras/2008/recapspread.htm

| | By this time next week..I will be drunk..Wearing my new rally cap ..<<expected B-day gift>>>.And the Nachos will all be gone..hopefully the cook will be then ready to feast.....After that...check the ice on the kegs and find a shot of 2killya....And maybe the start of a good game of poker.... To say I will be upset with Harris ...is kind of a long shot.. More likely upset that the BBQ isn't ready or that one of my friends has drunk all the 2killya....or a bad hand. I like what we have done so far..The draft is only going to be a plus....I am sure of that.

| The Mad Dog (4/19/2008) James Harris will have screwed up yet another first round draft pick. This time next week I'll be camped out in front of my TV watching the draft and probably groaning at a Jags pick. Nonetheless, Harris has done better than any previous GM I've followed. Be careful what you wish for TMD, or we'll end up with Bill Tobin.

Or, we might end up with a Polian, Pioli, AJ Smith, Heckert, Savage, et al....
I'd rather hope that we could get someone like that, rather than fear us getting someone like Tobin.
