Jay Glazer article shedding some more light. He mentions Bucs and Vikings but not Jags.

Jared Allen's days with the Chiefs appear to be numbered.

Allen told FOXSports.com that the Vikings and Buccaneers have held trade talks with the Chiefs and he anticipates a deal will get done prior to next week's draft.

"It's a situation that works out best for both sides," Allen told FOXSports.com. "I can go to a team that is competing for a championship right now. The Chiefs can get valuable draft picks to rebuild with."

Allen said he had a visit set up with the Vikings this weekend in Minnesota and is tentatively scheduled to meet with Tampa Bay next week as well.

The Pro Bowl defensive end is the Chiefs' franchise player, but re-signing in Kansas City will be a problem as the team is looking to stockpile draft picks.

Allen said the two sticking points are working out terms of a deal with a new team and the Chiefs agreeing to compensation for a trade. A package of first- and second-round picks or one of first- and third-round picks in the upcoming draft have been discussed as possible terms. It's unclear at this point what it will take to get the deal done.

Allen, a four-year veteran, led the NFL in sacks in 2007 with 15.5 and has 13 forced fumbles in the past three seasons.

If the value isn't there at 26, then yeah it should be done. We can live with a first rounder traded in a weak draft at basically the bottom of the first round, but two first rounders like some were saying, then no.

If the Chiefs are willing to accept a first and a third from Tampa or Minnesota, the Jaguars would have to increase their offer. Maybe a second rounder next year.

I'd make the deal for our 1st round pick, our 3rd round pick #71 and a 3rd round pick next year in a heart beat. Getting an established Pro Bowl DE is much better than taking a chance on the DE's who will be left at #26.  We are only a couple of players away, we don't need 8 or 9 draft picks this year.   It is interesting the Jags are not mentioned by Allen in the second article.  That is not encouraging.

Khaliff Barnes, 1st rounder and 3rd rounder....and throw in Mattloaf.  Barnes and Jarred Allen are both  jersey #69, so Khaliff would have to go!

I wouldn't worry too much about it. If anything, the lack of press about Jacksonville's involvement says more than anything else. This is a team that rarely if ever tips its hand when making a move.

Could be true.  I would LOVE to wake up and be surprised by this trade one morning.

One more thing I just thought of about the Jared Allen situation.  If Minnesota gets him and we don't, that may help our chances of having Phillip Merling fall to us at #26.  I had the Vikings taking Merling at #17.   But if the Chiefs get #17 from the Vikings, I guess they might take Merling to help replace Allen.  Dang.  Oh well, who knows what will happen....

I think that that is the main piece that KC is pushing to get the trade done. Essentially they are saying that they are putting a top notch guy on the trading block and as soon as he is gone, they are going to take his replacement in the draft. So if you want yourself a world-class DE, you better get him before anybody else.

Pretty shrewd bit of gamesman-ship there.
