| If he could play SS I'd be all for it. In fact that is probably one of the best scenarios we could hope for. Then we could snag a DE in the 2nd or early 3rd.

| Phillips should be the guy. He is a stud. I have no idea why he is falling so far.

Yeah, I don't think he will fall all the way to us at #26. Probably go to Eagles or Texans.

He's falling because people used to have him pegged as a Ed Reed/Sean Taylor hybrid, when he has never lived up to those expectations. He's an average starting safety in the NFL. Having said that, he still has the potential to be a Pro Bowler at the next level because of his size/speed and tackling ability.

I think he is better than Brandon Meriweather, who went 24 last year IIRC. Phillips has potential to be a perennial Pro Bowler.

I agree that he is better than Meriweather. The problem both of them faced is that they have to live up the U's mystique at safety. He's been compared to Sean Taylor and Ed Reed since he signed his LOI to Miami and when the expectations are that high, the only thing that can happen is dissapointment.

| | I think Kenny Phillips will be a good and solid pro safety. However, I don't have as much faith that he'll be a perrenial pro-bowl lock, as some are asserting. I would use the first pick at a different position, as starting caliber rookie safeties can be had well into round 3. |
