Dude is gonna be a steal all because he came in combine overweight, Maybe He got some bad advise.  Think about it,  Every one wanted this guy to come into the combine heavy,  he came in at 290 thats 20-25 pounds more then his playing weight, Then his schools pro day was scheduled the very next week dude had no time to drop weight, also after a super soph season of 10.5 sacks, defences were game planning a specific gameplan for this guy,  Think about it can you name anyone else on the hurricanes d line no,,  I say if he falls to us we got to get em

Perhaps he was 20 pounds overweight because he lacks discipline.  Also, how can a team that has 2 defensive stars slated to go in round 1 (or early round 2) lose to Virginia 41-0 in the final game at the Orange Bowl?

I believe Campbell is going to be a bust once he gets millions of dollars hitting his bank account.  In predicting the future of the 2 UM stars, I like the future of Kenny Phillips a lot better than Campbell.

..... but then again, I liked OL Kenyatta Walker (instead of DL Marcus Stroud) so what do I know

I think Campbell's lack of discipline will do him in at the pro level.  I sure hope we don't, don't, don't draft him.

I agree.  If you can't discipline yourself for 2 months prior to the biggest workout (NFL Combine) of your career, what makes someone think he'll change after the big check hits his bank account.

I think Calais Campbell could very well turn out to be an outstanding DE and I would have no reservations drafting him in Rd 1. Are there other players that I like better than him? Sure, but I seriously doubt any of them will fall to the Jags at Pick 26.

If the Jags F.O. takes Campbell at Pick 26, I will not have one problem with the selection.

I don't think there are any drive / motivation issues with Calais that a good DLine coach and Coordinator can't rectify.  Larry is the expert in regards to Calais and knows him well.  He'd be the one to defer to, but I'd say the mediocre 2007 campaign had more to do with the players beside him than anything else.  You put that guy in a DLine with guys like Henderson, Meier and Spicer and motivation will not be an issue.

At pick 26, we are not going to have a choice of ranked concensus top 10 players to choose from.  Calais is a guy that, if developed properly, has the potential to be a difference maker in the pros.  Spicer, Henderson and Peterson would be all over him if he lacked motivation.

He would not be my first choice...but, given his upside, I would not be upset with the pick.
