| | This is a good article from Pro Football Weekly. The first link is just about the importance of good drafting and scouting. They analyze not only the draft picks, but UDFA's also. The 2nd link Charts and ranks our picks in relation to our current roster. Here's an interesting bit: "There was only one area in which we could not find any correlation between wins and success in the draft, and that was in the area of success with high or first-day draft choices. In fact, only nine clubs (four playoff teams) selected more than 50 percent of their 2007 starters on the first day of the draft between 2003-05, while 17 teams (six playoff clubs) drafted less than 50 percent of their ’07 starters on the first day." http://www.profootballweekly.com/PFW/NFLDraft/Draft+Extras/2008/recapintro.htm http://www.profootballweekly.com/PFW/NFLDraft/Draft+Extras/2008/recapspread.htm

| | That's a pretty good article and I especially like the bit about how the New England Offensive and Defensive Lines were homegrown players. I get the feeling that our Defensive line really needs some new blood and we are going to see a nice big example of that come April 26th and 27th.

I see us taking as many as 4-5 players along the OLine and DLine.

Hmm...facts are fun aren't they. Seriously, this shows the Jaguars on realistic and responsible track toward major success. Let's hope it holds and we see more improvement. |
