I think I read that there were only like a grand total of 11 plays in all of the games last year that were affected by the force out rule.  I don't see there being many more this year.  DB's are probably not going to be plotting about how they can use this to their advantage.

Thinking back I only recall two incidents over the past few years of the Jaguars completing a reception because the receiver was ruled to be pushed out. Both incidents involved Matt Jones. I get the feeling that receivers who thrive by making fade catches or back-of-the-endzone catches are really going to suffer, especially if DBs are preparing to hit them extra hard near the sidelines (and end lines).

I agree that overall the rule favors teams that rely more on their running game and defense. The Vikings and Jaguars are two teams that should benefit. I know it doesn't seem like it's been an issue, but it certainly is in the minds of dbs who no longer have any reason to lighten up near the sidelines.

I only have one fear with this rule. Garrard has long made a living by throwing the ball near the sidelines and the back of the end zone. Last year, unlike past years, Garrard made several throws down the middle of the field, but the sidelines throws were still his bread-and-butter. He'll need to adjust.

For those of you who don't know, the NFL has done away with the "Force out rule". Now our safeties can gator chomp, err tackle, wide receivers so hard that they don't come down in bounds. I think this is great and gives physical teams more of an edge. Bring on the twinks!!!

Unfortunately the Colts will do the same old thing they've always done: get dumb DBs to bite on play fakes and burn them over the top. Smart teams adjust to new rules, and they will.

Vs. Kansas City in 2004 at home.  Cortez Hankton's catch was ruled a force out and a TD.

I like the rule change and don't think it will affect the Colts much.  The call actually doesn't come up often.  It just so happens that last year one of the calls had playoff implications for Cleveland.  It WASN'T called, in that case, but still, I think that put more emphasis on reviewing the rule.  Just like the rule change for video review of FGs.
