| | So its not just the Jacksonville "fans" noticing what a bum Matt Jones is. Check out this nugget from the Sporting News. Byron made the list as well... http://www.sportingnews.com/yourturn/viewtopic.php?t=396946 10. Matt Jones, WR, Jaguars: Three years ago, Jones created a huge buzz in the days leading up to the draft. Chris Mortensen of ESPN sang Jones' praises, predicting he'd qualify for more Pro Bowls than pretty much any of the rest of the skill-position players taken in Round 1. But in his third year -- the one in which receivers are supposed to break out -- Jones had a career low in catches (24) and yards (317). Although he still has the physical tools to remain in the NFL for several more years, the reality is that Jones, by all appearances, doesn't care. And if he doesn't care, he should quit. There are too many guys with less natural ability, but loads more desire and heart. Mike Florio writes and edits ProFootballTalk.com and is a frequent contributor to Sporting News.
Self-praise is for losers. Be a winner. Stand for something. Always have class, and be humble. John MaddenMember of Jaguar nation and season ticket holder since Day 1 | |

| Mike Florio? Isn't that the PFT (pro football talk.com) guy?
Meh.
I'll give Jones 1 more year.
We gave Leftwich that many...(4)
Congratulations to the 2008 WORLD Champions, your Philadelphia Phillies!

| Cmon, does it really even matter if he cares? If he's talented enough to put forth 60% effort and still make plays then its POSSIBLE he could help the team more than someone who wants it more with less talent. Though, its not a great attitude conducive to a team environment. In theory at least.
LOL, Chad Johnson is on the list.

| | he had a career low cause he was inactive for most of the season. When he did play we saw some production out of him. I really don't think he is as bad as the rep he gets around here. Lets wait and see what happens.......................
just a fan, I cheer the good and boo the bad.

LOL, Chad Johnson is on the list. It's possible, but not if Broussard or Williamson show more in camp. I sure hope he does, though, for his sake.
Either write something worth reading, or do something worth writing.

| The Mad Dog (4/7/2008) I'll give Jones 1 more year.

What a ridiculous comparison. Leftwich's desire to play was never in question (it was part of the problem at times). If he'd had the same attitude to the game that Matt Jones has shown, Roethlisberger might well be our starting QB today.
I'm not saying Matt Jones should be cut today, but he's got to earn another year, and I'm not filled with hope that he'll manage it, no matter how much I'd like him to. We've got a lot of competition at WR this year, and even if the standard isn't massively high, it's high enough to cause MJ trouble - we've even got direct competition this year for his spot at massively-overrated first-rounder who everyone's calling a bust. |

Agreed. It comes down to who's bust is worse, ours or Minnesota's? My money is on Williamson earning a roster spot over Jones. Maybe just maybe Jones can beat out Broussard, and then works his way into the starting rotation with an injury to Northcut or one of the other wide recievers....otherwise c' est le vie. |

| TecmoSuperBowl (4/7/2008) Matt Jones has value in the red zone.I hate the fade route. Additionally, with a QB that can run like Garrard, I prefer the team to allow Garrard to go through his reads and if nothing is open then run for the TD.
