| The Buccaneers won their division last year, lost quickly in the playoffs but followed it up with a solid offseason. Tampa added:
J.Faine center
W.Dunn halfback
B.Troupe tightend
B.Griese quarterback
A.Bryant wideout
M.Douglas defensive end
J.Wilkerson defensive end
T.Lehman linebacker
E.Wilson safety
The Bucs lost their starting CB and need to get younger at the position. Both R.Barber and D.Brooks are getting up in years and will need replacing sooner rather than later. Allstott retired. The offensive line could use an infusion of young talent through the draft as well.
The Bucs are in perfect position to trade down from #20 and still land their player. There is a very good chance that the best available pick later in the round will be a corner, offensive tackle or running back. Tampa has needs at all these positions.

Meanwhile, the Jaguars are looking to add a playmaker with their first round pick - -preferentially a lineman. They look up and see Tennessee and Washington sitting there above them just waiting to draft a defensive end with their first round selection.
A trade offer is made to the Bucs that would send pick 26, 89 and 156 (worth 875 points) in exchange for their 20th pick (worth 850 points)
The Jaguars go on to draft one of the top defensive ends with that crucial first round pick. They could have settled for somebody else at 26 but they got their guy at 20. The team has the impact player they were hoping to land with their first selection and still have a bunch of picks left. The hypothetical draft scenario plays out like this:
1>Defensive end- ready to have an impact off the edge
2>Safety - competes in camp with Sensebaugh
3>Offensive lineman - good player with room to grow can play G/T
4>Defensive tackle - pure run-stuffing 4-3 DT
5>Tight end - playmaker in passing game at a smaller school
5>Linebacker - tweener type that can get down the field in a hurry and hit
7>Quarterback - project
For completeness sake, the Bucs draft could play out like this:
1>Cornerback - top-notch talent fills a glaring need
2>Offensive lineman - left tackle of the future
3>Wide receiver - possession receiver to compliment J.Galloway
3>Cornerback - the position just got deeper
4>Running back - solid depth at the position
5>Offensive lineman - solid depth at the position
5>Defensive tackle - solid depth at position
Would you make this trade?

| | I actually would make that trade. The Bucs might even throw in a 6th or 7th round pick to make the points even closer. This would put the Jags ahead of the Skins and the Titans who are both looking at the DEs as well. Now if Harvey and Merling are already off the board when Tampa calls, then the trade would do us no good and we would be better to stay put.

Agreed. I see a very good tackle prospect sitting there at 26.
