Since you guys/girls see him play more often than I do, I was just wondering what your thoughts on him are and what his future is.

All the athletic talent you need but no heart at all.

Riding the Brian Witherspoon bandwagon.

VY is already a top 5 QB in this league. He just wins games. And no need for Fred Taylor or MJD we have Chris Henry... he will be better then both of them after this year. Just like Vince Young was last year. BOOK IT.

He's almost as overrated as Bob Sanders

We think he is the most valuable guy we have.  Whatever you colts do, don't try to trade anything for him.

Anything at all?

All-world athlete with talent.
Lazy, doesn't seem motivated, doesn't concentrate, heart just ain't there.

He isn't a bad player, but you really want to see those things be shed by now.

Not worthy of the money he's making. Not worth of 1/2 the money he's making. Not worthy of the draft pick he commanded.

I think all the previous posts about Matt Jones lackadaisical approach is true. But I think the Jags FO missed on Jones. They thought he was this big, athletic, fast WR that makes plays and catches TDs. Well...

Jones is big at 6'6 240lbs, but doesn't play to even a man half his size. He's not physical. As a former QB, he's not going to go after guys and shys away from contact.

Jones is a superior athlete, but not the kind to be a No.1 WR. Doesn't have enough quickness to achieve separation on shorter routes. Relies too much on his athleticism probably, which isn't enough by itself to be successful in the NFL.

Jones is fast....in a straight line. Being tall makes him cover more ground with less steps. But the game isn't played in straight lines. Because of this, his best bet is to be a deep route running WR where he can really stretch his legs.

Jones has made plays and caught TDs, but a lack of grit just keeps him from doing it consistently. His meal ticket is over. The honeymoon is over. It's time for him to earn his keep, him and Reggie Williams for that matter. Bringing in Jerry Porter and Troy Williamson to push Matt is going to let all of us know if he has the heart to rise to the challenge and show us he belongs.

I wonder what everybody's opinion of Matt would be if he would have caught that TD in the playoff last year against New England. I still believe coach Koetter will find a productive role for Jones in this offense but he needs to take that s**t seriously and compete like man trying to put food on the table.

I'm still too shook up from my weekend message board withdrawals to think straight, so I will have to answer this another time.
