I know this goes against conventional wisdom for us to draft defense....but McFadden is the BEST player available in the draft. He is one of those running backs that only come along every 10 years or so.If you don't believe mewatch footage of this years Arkansas games against Alabama, S. Carolina, and LSU.

Reggie Bush "only comes along once every 10 years" too.

I don't watch college football, but I'm telling you right now McFadden will not be as good as people are expecting him to be in the NFL. I said the same thing about Reggie Bush. Those thin-legged RBs are never going to go anywhere in my book. Especially those that spent more time receiving snaps from center than they did taking handoffs. The guy is 6'2" and weighs less than Mojo.

Quote me. Take a picture. Write it down. Hit Print Screen: McFadden wont be the best RB in this year's draft.

... I'll take Ray Rice or Rashard Mendenhall (I hate how Mendenhall holds the ball though) over McFadden in a heart beat. And I don't even watch college football. I just watch highlights and evaluate what I see. Seems to work well since it gives me no bias.

Wait. You don't watch college football but you have an opinion on some of the other running backs coming out? Makes no sense.

I don't watch college football. I hate watching college football. I also don't watch baseball, but I have a general knowledge of players.

What this means is that my observations on college football games is terrible. But with the draft, I'm looking at players and evaluating how they would do in the NFL, not how they would do if they played another year in college. All I can do is watch play reels and make observations. I honestly think college football translates so poorly into the pro game that I don't feel like I'm missing anything. I just look at prospects in action, and say what I think.

Example: I just said I think McFadden has skinny legs and I really think it's going to hurt him in the NFL. I just don't know where the power is going to come from. If you don't weigh a lot, that's ok, but you need to have a strong lower body (Mojo rings a bell here). McFadden isn't built like that. Now, I looked it up shortly after to see what other people thought... and what do you know, it's one of the biggest knocks on him.

I just said in this thread from looking at highlights of Mendenhall that I really like him, but I hate the way he handles the ball. And what do you know, I looked up knocks on Mendenhall just now and see it's one of his biggest issues.

I hated Vince Young in the draft -- I just didn't see what the fuss was about in the game film, and I think time will prove that to be a big mistake. I also loved Jay Cutler from what I saw, and I would say he'll go on to be a productive QB in Denver for a while.

I didn't like Jamarcus Russell from what I saw. But I'll give him the benefit of the doubt until I can see more of him in the NFL.

You see, I don't need to watch the college game to understand how a player will translate into the NFL. I can essentially give the exact same analysis a scout would give by watching player reels than I would if I watched college football regularly... how do you think scouts are able to pluck great players from small schools?

the college game just does nooooooooooot translate into the pro game. You have RBs that average 8 YPC over their career and the likes. It's just ridiculous at times. You don't look at production, you look at ability in relation to the pro game. I see all I need on youtube, and while I've heard that "McFadden can run with power," I sure haven't seen it. I just see a bunch of poor defenses getting beat by a guy that is out athleticizing them.

.. on vince young
