I thought we had a thread once before, but I couldn't find it. Anyway, we could use a new one. I just saw WR Donnie Avery's results and they are impressive. The Jags don't need another WR, but for the mock draft makers out there, Avery might have moved up about 15-20 spots with this workout.

Results:
40-time - 4.35 and 4.34 sec. (Fastest WR in the draft)
Vertical  - 37.5" (up there with the top jumps - combine high was 39")
Short Suttle - 3.91 sec. (Fastest in the entire draft that I can see)
3 cone drill - 6.30 sec. (By far the fastest in the entire draft)
Size - He measured in at 5-11 and 1/8 and 182 lbs (not bad)

Wed, 2 Apr 2008 13:26:23 -0700

SIRIUS NFL Radio Movin' the Chains reports University of Southern California LB Keith Rivers worked out at his school's Pro Day Wednesday, April 2. Rivers had a 42-inch vertical jump and a 4.51 40-yard dash.

Very nice time and jump for Rivers. Too bad he can't rtake his wonderlick test (13)

Those who are contemplating the Jags taking Lawrence Jackson at Pick 26, see what this Scout had to say about the prospect:

Defensive end Lawrence Jackson looked “pedestrian” today according to sources.  He seemed a bit sluggish though people felt the fact Sedrick Ellis was so outstanding working out next to Jackson in the drills made his performance look a little worse then it actually was.  A source on the scene compared Jackson to Kalimba Edwards and feels there is no way he is selected in round one.

Yeah, I thought all those mocks were stretching for Jackson putting him at the #26 pick. You can get Lawrence Jacksons anywhere. He will probably be a late 2nd round pick.

And what does that say about Ellis? He dominated even with a "pedestrian" DE next to him.

why waste the time on him when you could get chris johnson?
4.24 combine 40
and he weighs 10 pounds more?

he is compared to brian westbrook, but with a better burst

They play different positions. I guess it depends on if you are looking for a RB or a WR.

chris johnson has play both the wide reciever and running back positions, in depth at ECU

it even says that on the site you posted

Strengths:
Extremely fast and explosive...A terror in space...Very quick and elusive...Fantastic receiver with terrific (albeit small) hands...Runs good routes...Decent vision and a good cutback runner...Can really turn the corner...A great natural athlete...A very versatile weapon..Also an outstanding kick returner..Still has considerable upside.

Weaknesses:
Lacks the size and bulk that you look for...Not tough or physical...Looks to bounce everything outside and he doesn't offer much as an inside runner..Toughness and durability are issues...Sub par blocker...May be a 'tweener without a true position.

Notes:
Bounced around between running back and wide receiver throughout his college career and could project to either position in the pros...If he stays at running back he will probably have to make his mark as a 3rd down / situational guy and return specialist...Has not yet reached his full potential because he was never afforded the opportunity to concentrate on mastering a single position...A very poor-man's Reggie Bush who can definitely help a team if used correctly...Intriguing prospect.

Gil Brandt, of NFL.com, reports University of Oklahoma CB Reggie Smith worked out at his school's Pro Day Wednesday, April 9. Smith posted a 4.65 and 4.61 40-yard dash, a 39 1/2-inch vertical jump, a 10-foot-9 long jump, a 4.03-second short shuttle and a 6.70-second cone drill. He measured in at 6-foot 1/8, 192 pounds.

NFL | M. Kelly works out at Pro Day
Wed, 9 Apr 2008 12:12:35 -0700

Jake Trotter, of The Oklahoman, reports University of Oklahoma WR Malcolm Kelly worked out at his school's Pro Day Wednesday, April 9. Kelly posted a 32-inch vertical jump, a 9-foot-9 long jump, a 4.24-second short shuttle, a 7.00-second three-cone drill and a 4.68 40-yard dash. He measured in at 6-foot-4, 227 pounds.

OUCH!
Where does that drop these guys to?
Kelly ran slower than Ernest Wilford... (late 2nd to 3rd round?)
Smith is going to have to play safety at the next level... (3rd -4th?)
