The question I pose to everyone here is the career of arguably one if the greatest receivers to suit up Sundays over??

While he may try to come back this year, it is very clear that the torch has been passes away from the eventual hall-of-famer to Reggie Wayne.

Here is a quick glance at his stats from year :

5 games played
1 touchdown
0 100 yd games
20 receptions

After suffering an injury that was supposed to sideline him for a game or two, Marvin missed the rest of the regular season. During the playoff game against the Chargers(which the team lost) Marvin recorded 2 catches for 27 yds, 0 tds, 0 plays over 20 yds, 1 fumble lost, and was pretty much no where to be found.

After the season ended Marvin had a surgical procedure to have knee cleaned up.

Also, remember that Harrison will coming into his 14th year in the league.

Back to the topic at hand, do you think Marvin is gonna come back this year, and how do you think he will do as the #2 or 3 receiver on the team? Has he lost a step? Should he hang them up? Do you hear a huge sigh of relieve from Rashean this year??

Do the colts run their offense with Wayne, Gonzalez, and Clark? Or do you see them drafting another wideout (or possibly another TE so Clark can line up in the slot)?

Anyways, just wondering what everyone's opinion is on the matter. Also to all the colt homers please be rational and look at the situation from all angles. I know you all think he will back at 100%, but he may not. So please don't just post, OMG Marvin is the best, you are dumb.

First of all, I don't think we need to go into the criteria of us being able to replace him or not if he were to retire.  We did that pretty well last season.  He made a game-changing mistake when he fumbled the ball against the Chargers, but, ultimately, he wasn't the reason we lost to the Chargers.  We lost to the Chargers because of a lack of pass rush in that specific game.

I don't think we will draft a wide receiver, at least not this year (even if he retires).  I think he'll be back and I think he'll want to end it on a good note.  Keep in mind that he is a very well-conditioned athlete.  He has always been that way.  In addition, he had an injury that normally takes seven-eight weeks to heal, so the gut of the healing process is already long-gone.  He can use this offseason to get back into ship-shape again.

I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility to say that he could come back 100% for those reasons.  Given the offense he plays in, I certainly don't think someone is a homer if he were to say that he could come back and have a great season.  I do think he will come back because you get the feeling that he's the type of player who wants to leave on good terms.

If Teddy Bruschi can rebound from a stroke and return to form (which he did...notably, as quickly as he did), then Harrison can certainly come back 100%.  I'm not saying it will happen, but the odds are better than you would expect.

ICF, 100% healthy yes, 100% as when he was in his prime, No.

I don't think the injury will be as much of an issue as his age will be.

Replacement? When it happens I think it could be Clark in the slot as it was last year, Though I think fans are going to like Hall when he gets his chance. The outside will be Reggie and Anthony, Dallas and Roy working the middle (If Marvin were to retire)

Done? Probably no. On the way down? Definitely yes.

I always come to my conclusions by careful, scientific observation.
But only if the results of said careful, scientific observation fully corroborate my biased opinion.

After 13 years, it's probably safe to say that Marvin's best days are behind him. But Marvin's best days were awfully good years. IIRC, he's been on a pace to break most of Jerry Rice's records for the biggest part of career. So, even if he's lost a step or two, he very well could be an elite caliber receiver in the league. To me, the wild card is whether or not he will figure prominently in the Colts game planning with all of the other targets Manning has.

At this stage of his career, nothing would surprise me, but I do get the feeling that he'll play something of a significant role with the Colts in '08.

100% as when he was in his prime, No.

Of course.  He wasn't 100% in that sense before he went down last year.
