Here's a scouting report on Peterson from scouts inc.

Comment: Peterson is a nine-year veteran out of Florida that was originally drafted by the Indianapolis Colts who he played with for four years before signing with the Jaguars before the 2003 season. He has been a consistent play maker over his career before missing all but five games this past season with a pectoral muscle injury suffered against the Jets in Week 5. He has rare speed to go with his quickness and athleticism that allows him to make plays all over the field. He is explosive and powerful in spite of his lack of ideal size and bulk. He stuns blockers as he takes them on and can explode through on tackles to drive the ball carrier back after initial contact. He understands blocking schemes and angles and is very quick with is play recognition. He is a good form tackler that consistently brings his feet with him to prevent the ball carrier from gaining extra yards after first contact. He is very athletic in space and can play in coverage from a man alignment as well as from zone. He shows route recognition as well as the ability to read the quarterback and get a good jump on the ball. He definitely benefits from the massive defensive tackles in front of him and their ability to keep him protected from combo blocks.

"In the exhibition games, he's shown eggo hands."
"It's like you people are truly shocked/ mystified/ surprised that Harris produced another bust."

I think that if Mike stays on, the look will be Smith - Peterson - Ingram.

I say this because Ingram is a pure strongside guy. Having him as the #4 linebacker would be pointless--- he'd barely get any snaps.

Meanwhile, though Durant would mostly get snaps at the weakside, he can rotate in at middle linebacker too.

To add on to this, in that article I mentioned that was not up very long. He described Durant and Ingram as "good" players and Daryl Smith as "outstanding" for what its worth.

Durant is sure to soon be in that "outstanding" category. It's just that he's still developing. He's probably already better than Ingram who IMO has already hit his ceiling as a player.

Peterson is simply too good in the middle to miss with him being the starter there. Frankly, I feel that the board as of late has been grossly underestimating the man. I have no issues with Daryl Smith as a MLB, and I think statistically he's actually averaged more tackles per game, but Mike P is exactly what you want at the position, and in my book clearly ranks as the better of the two.

What I like so much about Mike is that he's consistently greeting the ball carrier right about the time he reaches the line of scrimmage. Mike gets right up there between the DTs if need be, and is often the first guy there. Usually as the players are peeled off the pile, Mike is one of the last up having to be pried from the turf. Now Daryl's not bad at all, but he doesn't get up in there like Mike P. Daryl you can count on to stuff a ball carrier for like a 3-4 yard gain. Mike P. will limit the guy to something like a 1-2 yard gain. That's the difference.
