WOW!  They have Calais Campbell falling all the way to Dallas in round 4 (#100).  That would be crazy.  I really like some of the ideas they had in the first round.  They have us taking DE Lawrence Jackson.  I'm beginning to think that is not such a bad idea.  I wonder if the Jags would pull the trigger on a trade with Minnesota at #17 to get Derrick Harvey or do they want to keep a bunch of picks.  Hmmm.

IMO, Lawrence Jackson has the lowest ceiling and the highest floor.

Don't know about that...I've seen games where Jackson has been a force. At both stopping the run and rushing the passer. The main thing with him is consistency. He's a safer bet than Calais Campbell at this point. Who knows what's Campbell's problem? Why was he out of shape at the combine? What really happened his junior year? Why didn't he try to test better at his pro day, Instead of declining?

You don't have those questions with Jackson. He's a solid pick.

That's why I say he has the highest floor. He's ready to come in and play right away. He just doesn't WOW me with anything.

With his surgery issue, I'm thinking Merling might fall to us now.  If that happens, do we take him over a healthy Lawrence Jackson?  Here's what I am thinking lately:

1.  Mia- DE/OLB V. Gholston
2.  Stl- DE Chris Long
3.  Atl- OT Jake Long
4.  Oak- DT Sedrick Ellis
5.  K.C- OT Ryan Clady
6.  NYJ- RB Darren McFadden
7.  N.E- CB Leodis McKelvin
8.  Bal- QB Matt Ryan
9.  Cin- LB Keith Rivers
10. N.O- DT Glenn Dorsey
11. Buf- CB D. R-Comartie
12. Den- OT Chris Williams
13. Car- OT Jeff Otah
14. Chi- RB Rashard Mendenhall
15. Det- RB Jonathan Stewart
16. Ari- CB Mike Jenkins
17. Min- DE Derrick Harvey
18. Hou- CB Aqib Talib
19. Phi- S  Kenny Phillips
20. Tam- WR Desean Jackson
21. Was- DE Quinten Groves
22. Dal- WR Devin Thomas
23. Pit- WR Malcolm Kelly
24. Ten- WR Limas Sweed
25. Sea- OG Branden Albert
26. Jac- DE Phillip Merling
27. S.D- S  Reggie Smith
28. Dal- RB Felix Jones
29. S.F- OT Gosder Cherilus
30. G.B- CB Antoine Cason
31. NYG- LB Dan Connor

It's a sports hernia. It's not like a blown up knee.

Yes, I realize that.  There is still talk of his stock dropping.

As there should be.  An operation is an operation.  It has to be considered.  Some teams will drop him on their draft boards, I can guarantee you that much.  Ask Jarvis Moss how complications from  routine medical treatments can de-rail your career in the short term (I'm referring to his cortisone treatment turned staph infection).
