| | Here's the latest... The "nuclear stress test" left me feeling nauseous for hours afterward, and was extremely uncomfortable. My blood pressure, which is always perfect, shot down to 110 as they tested me, and then when they stopped it shot up to 160 before settling back to my norm of right around 128. Anyways, it again revealed that there was something funny going on with my heart. There were two reasons for concern from what he said about the test, but it was all totally greek to me. I couldn't repeat a word of what the doctor said about the test results. The bottom line is that there appears to be a blockage somewhere. I was sent to a Cardiologist who in turn had me schedule an angiogram for this upcoming Wednesday. They're going to shoot more dye into my bloodstream so they can track down precisely where the blockage may be, and will stick a wire through my vein, most likely through my wrist, to the blockage. From the wire they're able to take a picture of inside my vein to be absolutely sure of what they're looking at. Most likely it'll be a narrowing requiring angioplasty. A balloon will expand from the wire opening up the vein, and then a stent will be put in place to keep it open. It's a fairly routine procedure for cardiovascular surgeons that will require me to stay overnight for observation. After that, I'm supposed to be under constant watch for 24 hours just to make sure I'm ok. Assuming everything works out, I'll finally be able to reschedule the surgery to see if the melanoma has spread. Thanks for the continued support and prayer. I'm continuing to keep my hopes high.

That's a lot to deal with '02. Hang tough. I also had a nuclear stress test done recently, but in my case it was just part of my annual physical. The test itself wasn't so bad, but having to give up caffeine for 24 hours left me with a crushing headache and nausea. I never heard the results of mine; I hope that means they didn't find anything wrong.

hb1148 (3/16/2008) I've heard melanoma is the most common form of cancer and one of the more curable kinds if caught early. This is the best news I've heard yet. I've also heard that they tend to stay dormant the longest, which is why they think they caught it in time. That said, it's also a highly genetic condition which has me wondering about my siblings and parents. Also my Dad had this and all is well now.
