| | I know these don't always mean squat, but was thinking instead of having 20 threads everyday about who the Jags interviewed or who they are showing interest in, maybe they could all be located in one thread. With that being said here's the first one I found : NFL | K. Balmer measures in at NFL Scouting Combine Sat, 23 Feb 2008 07:48:13 -0800 North Carolina DL Kentwan Balmer measured in at the 2008 NFL Scouting Combine with a height of 6-foot-4 1/2 and a weight of 308 pounds. Balmer is projected as a likely first-round draft pick. He has spoken thus far with the Indianapolis Colts and Jacksonville Jaguars. http://www.kffl.com/hotw/nfl

Riding the Brian Witherspoon bandwagon. ______________________________________________________________ Titansfan9157 (8/24/2007) VY is already a top 5 QB in this league. He just wins games. And no need for Fred Taylor or MJD we have Chris Henry... he will be better then both of them after this year. Just like Vince Young was last year. BOOK IT. | |

Stigma, approximately what spot of the draft do you believe Gosder Cherilus will be picked? I think that the Steelers will look very hard at him and decide between him, Baker and Otah as far as who will be their Rd 1 selection. I don't see the Steelers re-signing Max Starks, so they will need a new ORT. If the Steelers don't take him, he might slip into Rd 2 but he won't last long. My guess in the top 1/3 of Rd 2, assuming that the Steelers don't take him. If I am the Steelers, I take him over both Baker and Otah. |

| | Omg Its Leftwich and Stigma, thanks for your input. An X-factor regarding the Steelers is whether another team will sign Max Starks to an offer sheet. I was surprised that they placed the Transition Tag on him. I didn't think Starks would be tagged at all, especially after he lost the starting RT job to Willie Colon in 2007. As we have seen in recent years, especially regarding the Steve Hutchinson situation, the Transition Tag might not be worth the paper it's written on. The other question regarding Gosder Cherilus is whether he can be a winning caliber LT at the NFL level or whether most teams envision him as a RT.

Personally I think he is best suited for the ORT position. If the Steelers were the Steelers of old, then having an ORT playing OLT would not be so bad since they ran more than they passed the ball. With the new coaching staff comes a new philosophy that of throwing the ball more than you run it. Under such a situation, you can bet the only thing that the Steelers have going for them is Roethlisberger's mobility. In any event, count on Roethlisberger getting hit a lot and most likely missing games due to injury. That is what happens when you try to play something other than Steeler football in the Steel City. |

| | Cherilus was also interviewed twice by the jaguar's staff during the senior bowl, so there is obviously legitimate interest in him. I think 26 is a bit high for him this year...but in any other season i easily could see him going top 20. Perhaps we could trade down an get him in the early 2nd and pick up a few extra picks. He is strictly a RT, he was moved to LT this year and struggled. If all the top DEs are gone by the time we pick I would have no problem with a trade down and picking him up in the early 2nd. |
