(Not too hard in this case!)
Shop around. You'll probably be able to get a promotional rate, maybe as low as 0% for a period of time then the rate will go to the standard rate on the remaining balance. Make sure you know that rate and what transfer fees will be involved. There are no penalties as such. Make sure you know what the payoff balance is because that will include finance charges until the payoff date. You have to ask. The balance on your statement is not the payoff. Shop around, each card is different.

RE: Credit Card Intrest Rates

Is there many penalties when transfering the balance to another card with lower rates. Tell them your situation, sob story whatever and they will usually lower the rate with you. Or get a buddy of yours that is a good talker, and a quick thinker to do the dirty work for you.

RE: Credit Card Intrest Rates

1-800-AXE-GARY

RE: Credit Card Intrest Rates
HYPHY32 (7/31/2008)
I have had a credit card for four years. Read your terms for the card, I'm sure it says they can raise your APR to a default rate if you miss a payment. My suggestion is to do a balance transfer to another card with a lower APR. The other issue is that when you closed the card you lost any leverage you may have had. Never get mad and close a card with a balance on it.

RE: Credit Card Intrest Rates

Sorry pissed and on the phone and went in NFL draft.
