Fake. Girls don't remember anything when they are drunk let alone the specific number of guys that supposedly "raped" her. She was caught in a messed up situation and tried to lie to cover her own back.

That is odd. I don't know which channel it was but I recall liking the dad's statement that he'd rather have his daughter be a liar (and lose respect in the community) than to actually have her be a rape victim.

Im glad it was resolved and the police and state attorney's office did their due dilligence rather than go on a Duke-like witch hunt.

I can tell you this though, as the father to a little girl, the total LACK of parenting skills on a common sense level from all parties involved, is mind-numbing.

That fear, and the humiliation she now lives with are punishment enough.

She's a little girl dealing with the rush of horomones we all face. She was found on the beach in a compromising state and made up a story, not realizing the far reaching implications at the time.

Ever since the Duke Lacrosse team fiasco, everyone is on the fence about sketchy situations like this. Not that I blame them, I'm fairly doubtful that she's telling the truth as well, but hey, I don't know all the facts.

I'd like to say I'm, totally shocked, but given JSO's willingness to shoot just about anyone for any reason, or no reason at all, not to mention run someone over then blame it on them, I'm not all that surprised.

In all seriousness, you don't really know if much of anything happened.

You just know of the allegation. I suppose some folks think people should be charged every time there is an allegation.

And you're bent on that alone, as apparently there is no further evidence a crime was committed at all.

Typical rush to judgement. People change their minds real quick when the shoe is on the other foot.

From what I've heard, rape laws are pretty screwed up. Massachusetts is the only state where no really means no. I think I've heard that most other states require some sort of evidence of a struggle. Can anyone confirm that?

The actual statement is the police BELIEVE something happened to her. However, they have found no evidence and no one at the party who can corroborate any accusations of rape.

Not that it is necessarily the case in this situation (though it is looking more and more likely) there should be very stiff penalties for people who accuse men of rape when there was no such occurance. If someone is accused of a crime such as rape they are forever suspect in the eyes of their peers whether or not they are guilty. That is a lot of power to give a person with a axe to grind. It is a heinous crime but it seems far too often these stories prove false or the victim recants their statement weeks later.

neptune beach case has been stalled out apparently. i still cant believe the parents of the house claim to not know what was going on.

all i can say is those people are lucky that wasnt my girl. id go to their house right now and bust them up.
