If they just STAY HEALTHY. Go JAGS!!!

RE: ESPN on Favre's retirement

thats like what i said, 2008/2009 will show us whats its gonna be like, but favre has always had good receivers, we havent really had a good duo of receivers since J-smooth and McCardell, but even if he played 4 of the 5 he missed 1 for last game lets not even count that since he sat out anyways, id say he prob be around 3300 and 23 td's, he never got near the TD count in his last 4 games anyways, so its fair to say hed be around their, which is good but stats are stats, wins are what counts and we lost the wins we needed, which we all hear year after year we need to beat them **** colts. which i hope we win our division this year. i predict we go 14-2 but only the future can hold we dont know.

and fyi most of the QBs right now in the passing attacks are getting from 3500-4600 a year most passing friendly teams are in the 4000+ yards.

go jags make us proud.

RE: ESPN on Favre's retirement
Canadian_Jag_Fan (7/8/2008)
i am a huge jags fan, and i support any QB on this team, but thier is no way you can even put garrad in the same boat as favre. even in favre bad years how many TD's and how many yards did he throw. and David garrad in his first year starting, thru barly 2000 yards and less then 20 tds, and half of you guys and girls think hes the next best thing. Its a given that stats arent all that, but when it comes to winning its all about plays, but garrad didnt make all them plays when needed. When the packers need a TD in 1 min favre can do it, not all the time just like peyton, brady, Big Ben, they dont always get it done. but Garrad has never shown he can do it like the best at crunch time. Sure that Pitts playoff game was good signs of to come but maybe it isnt. But putting up those numbers that the elite Qbs have, garrad will never do that enless he really increases his attack in the passing game and play like a wuss and throw check down passes every play. I could of had the same % and QB rating last year with the jags with the same strat. Although its not neccessary Garrads fault on that last year, maybe its the Offensive Cord. fault or maybe he knew Garrad could not handle the Air attack so gave him the Check down, low turnover style. only 2008/2009 will tell us the truth on that.

with addition of Jerry Porter, and willimanson, emerge of Reggie Williams and maybe get a peak of the talented Mike Walker, with those 4 guys and we dont see a Garrad with at least 3000 passing yards, then ya hes not worth a Top 20 pick anywhere.

like to make a correction he had 2500 not barly 2000 yards but no where near the 3000 mark.
I understand the point your making but Garrard only played 12 games. If he played the whole season he would have been up around 3300yds and 26tds.

He is not on Favres level, but whos to say he wont be in a few years.

RE: ESPN on Favre's retirement

i am a huge jags fan, and i support any QB on this team, but thier is no way you can even put garrad in the same boat as favre. even in favre bad years how many TD's and how many yards did he throw. and David garrad in his first year starting, thru barly 2000 yards and less then 20 tds, and half of you guys and girls think hes the next best thing. That said, he had a very good season last year - IIRC Football Outsiders' ratings put him as the third best QB in the league last year, and most other metrics put him up there as well.

RE: ESPN on Favre's retirement
TheSpacePope (7/8/2008)

iapetus (7/8/2008)
Interesting snippet from Gene Wojciechowski over at ESPN on the will-he-won't-he Brett Favre return:
The only NFL quarterbacks better than Favre right now are:

Tom Brady. Peyton Manning. And, uh ...

See what I mean? There are 32 teams, and Brady and Manning are the only two QBs you can absolutely, positively say are superior to Favre. They probably wouldn't have the same high numbers that they do now; I believe it's safer to say that Favre would have redunkulous numbers if his entire career (18 / 19 years? ) was played in the passing-friendly rules that dominate the game today.

RE: ESPN on Favre's retirement
iapetus (7/8/2008)
Interesting snippet from Gene Wojciechowski over at ESPN on the will-he-won't-he Brett Favre return:
The only NFL quarterbacks better than Favre right now are:

Tom Brady.
