You can tell he knows how to win. You can tell the niners will be much better off with Singletary as their head coach. Once he gets his players and rids his team of "me first" guys then they will take off. Singletary coached Ray Lewis who is on of the greatest competitors as well as one of the greatest linebackers of all time. Ray Lewis is a winner and Singletary wants more players with the Ray Lewis mentality. Once he gets those guys, that team will be a force. Singletary will be a great coach in this league.

We plan on launching a new message board tomorrow sometime between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. When this process begins the old board will be shutdown so we can move accounts & posts to the new board.

I encourage all of you to read the new terms and conditions here:

The following is provided to answer some of the questions which will arise.

1) The new board will contain a forum entitled “New Forum Comments” which will remain on the board for a two week period. This forum is intended to help you and us with the transition to the new board. Constructive comments and suggestions concerning the new board are to go here only. Suggestions / comments placed in other forums will not be moved, nor read, but rather deleted.

2) Logging into the new board – sign in using your username and password just as you would with the existing board.

3) Signatures – Signatures will be transferred to the new board. A few sigs may not work when transferred.

4) Avatars - Will not come over to the new board, so save yours if you would like to use it on new board.

5) Forums - The board will include the following forums:

a. The Jaguars – same content as the existing board

b. AFC South – same content as existing board

c. NFL @Large - Same content with additional expectation that Free Agency is also discussed here

d. College Football – A new forum dedicated to the discussion of college football and the NFL Draft

e. Tailgate Zone – A place for fans to discuss their tailgate plans, share tailgate setups/recipes, and talk about their gameday, or where they plan to watch the game.

f. Jaguars Ticketing – same content as on existing board. We will be making a concerted effort to ensure that your ticketing questions are answered in a prompt manner by members of the Ticket Office.

g. Gameday Experience – Modification of old forum. This redirects you to the ‘My Experience’ portion of Jaguars.com so you may ask questions and voice concerns pertaining to your gameday experience.

h. Jaguars.com - Same content as existing board, your comments and concerns regarding jaguars.com or the message forums (after the ‘New Forum Comments” is deleted)

6) Banned Members Appeals - This forum will appear only if you have been suspended or banned. This is the only place to appeal a suspension or banishment. Only board admins have additional access to this forum. Only they will make a final determination on appeals for reinstatement.

7) The Sideline --This board will be a football only board. Hence, “The Sideline” is gone and will not be reintroduced. Non- Football threads (other than those in the Feedback area )will be deleted when noticed by mods or admins and warnings will be issued for posting same.

8) Warnings – Members will typically receive five warnings before they are suspended or banned from the board. We reserve the right, however, to suspend or ban your account without notice should the violation be severe enough.

9) Trolls – Trollish behavior includes the disruption of the board by means of meaningless posts, profanity, spamming the board, etc. A troll IS NOT a fan of the opposing team who expresses their opinion of a recent or upcoming game.

10) Spamming the board – Bumping posts, replying to one’s own response, and extremely short responses that add little to the topic are considered spamming and subject to warnings from the mods.

11) Board Dicipline - Occasionally we run into the unfortunate situation where we have to suspend members for poor conduct on the message board. A member who breaks the rules outlined above is subject to the following disciplinary action:

a. First through fourth offenses : Warning

b. Fifth offense – Suspension or Permanent ban

Egregious violations may result in temporary suspension which will be reviewed by the administrators for potential permanent banishment.

12) Clean Slate – All members, less those currently banned, will start out on the new board with no warnings. Formal warnings for starting non-football threads will not be issued during the first week of operation, however, these threads will be immediately deleted and you will receive PM warnings. Should a mod determine you are knowingly and purposefully posting non-football threads you will be suspended.

13) Off-topic Posts- Will not be tolerated and will be subject to warnings.

14) Ignore feature – This is an included function of the board so you may choose to ignore any poster who bothers you, less the mods and admins. You may also chose to not see sigs.

15) Quoting posts – Many have complained in the past about this and we have limited the number of posts that can be quoted to four.

16) Revised COC - The COC has been revised and will be pinned to each Forum. Please familiarize yourself with it. By logging into the the new board, old members are bound to its terms and conditions.

17) Blogs – Official Jaguars blogs may be accessed from the message board. We may, in the future enable user blogs, either selectively or en masse.

18) Gallery – We are also moving our picture gallery to the Forum. Again, for the time being this is an Official gallery only.

Game blacked out this weekend

With approximately 5,000 tickets remaining, Sunday’s game between the Lions and Redskins will not be televised in the local television markets (Metro Detroit, Lansing, Saginaw/Flint and Toledo), according to National Football League guidelines.

The NFL rule for televising a game in the home area requires that the game be sold out 72 hours before kickoff. The game would have had to be sold out at 1:00 p.m. today in order for the blackout to be lifted.

First Tom brady admitted his left knee became infected and he needed surgery just to clean it out - three times at two hospitals. Now the Colts are trying to deny the recent report that Peyton Manning had a second surgery to clean out an infection, saying he had his first surgery for that. And how many times have we read about a Browns tight end recently being hospitalized for three days lbecause of staph?

Reading about three staph cases in the same month - although one happened back in August, if not earlier - makes me wonder if we are seeing a bad trend or just bad luck. After Kellen Winslow was released I read he was the seventh Browns player in recent years to suffer a staph infection, so if Manning and Brady did not get that, I would assume it was just a Browns problem. But Manning and Brady are not Browns players, so obivously it goes beyond Cleveland.

Any guesses or theories about this?

Obviously we want the Jags to demolish the Browns in another key AFC win. Then the Monday Night game. This is a victory for us either way. But if you believe the Jags can get on a roll, and the Titans aren't as good as their record shows, then we want an Indy victory. The rest of the games really don't matter, but I would love to see the Cowboys lose and get thrown into even greater chaos.

Browns tight end Kellen Winslow revealed to the Plain Dealer Sunday night that his previously undisclosed illness was a staph infection and that he's upset with the way the team handled that situation and others regarding him.

He specifically said he feels like a "piece of meat" and expressed dismay Browns General Manager Phil Savage didn't call him while he was in the Cleveland Clinic last week. He said he's also upset that the team wanted to keep the illness quiet and that they announced it was Winslow who didn't want it revealed.

WTF is wrong with that city.

JDR elected not to hire Mike , do to lack of experience.

Actually Mike had a hard time breaking into coaching in the NFL and was denied by several teams.

Now in a few years he's a head coach of the 49rs.

Did Jack and company totally miss on Mike? Or is Mike been given his shot do to his fame as a player?

Palmer was long considered the third best but has an arm injury and hasn't played in weeks for the winless Bengals. Who is the best QB? Cutler? Roethlisberger? Who else is there? They got annihilated by the Rams today. You can't put this all on Brad Johnson either. Their defense let Steven Jackson run all over them. Their secondary looked lost and the only Cowboy who lived up to his rep today was DeMarcus Ware who got 3 sacks on Bulger.

Whats funny is now all the networks will begin to discuss "the decline of the cowboys" and "how did the cowboys become so bad?" My question is, when were they good? They've benefited from soft schedules over the years but have choked in the playoffs since Aikman was at the helm.

Last week was a though pill to swallow... Never have I sucked more! 36% against the spread it's what Peter King makes in his regular predictions… that's how bad I was. Every game went south, Minnesota couldn't scored against a Detroit team with what's his name… at Qb. Chicago couldn't beat a Rookie Qb. Houston, even if I said they would beat the Wildcats couldn't beat the spread. Dallas not only lost against Arizona but lost half their players in the 50 seconds they played in OT. NY couldn't beat the Browns. It's like every good NFL team decided last week to take a bye.
Even with all that, I'm 61% against the spread! What a turnaround going from 75% one week to 36% the next. The worst part? I'm no longer undefeated, that's what hurts the most… ´cause it hurts my pockets! This is the first week of the season that I have lost money and bad.

This is the craziest years I've ever covered because we have almost 3 Qb's on IR (Kitna, Palmer, Brady) and 4 more hurt (McNabb, Romo, Rodgers and Roethlisberger). We have a rookie Playing like a pro (Ryan); we have Rb's that suddenly can't run; a defense that should be rock solid, looking like Division I programs; underdogs constantly pulling the upset! Man… It's just crazy. It's time to step up and get back on track!

KC beat Denver when they were undefeated, can they do the same to the Titans? HELL NO! You only get one gimme a year and KC used it the last time. Plus, no LJ. Believe me there are teams that should just call it quits and wait for next season imagine being a season ticket holder for the chiefs, Lions, Rams or Bengals. And pay 1k at least, that money would have had a better use as toilet paper.

Note to the Commisioner: all the money you collect from the teams and players for fines instead of going to who know what or where should go to the fans of really crappy teams, because it’s not their fault their teams suck, why should they sit and watch how their hard earn money it’s being wasted on the field. The league and Owners should be held responsible for these things. Specially with teams like the Lions or Raiders that had sucked for many years those owners are robbing their fans each year, that just isn’t fair.

Can the Wildcat keep working? Baltimore sucks on the road. Flacco and the offense are just not putting points. I really think the Ravens defense can hurt Miami but as we saw it when they played Tennessee, the defense can only hold on for so long. Plus, you get the motivation factor against Cameron. Take the home team.

How to name this game? St. Louis pulled the upset last week. Can they do it two weeks in a row? If so, Hanslett gets the job for next year. Dallas Oline looked like St.Louis last week. They lost their punter, change of pace back, their second CB and we still don't know what about the QB.

Can they step up as a team against adversity? In these next four weeks, they will show us, if they're a bunch of Super Stars or a Real Team! My logic comes to who needs this game more and the Cowboys need it, not only for the playoffs but because they're starting to doubt themselves.

You would expect Joey Porter to say this stuff, not Troy Polamalu: He said fines for illegal contact are being issued so frequently the NFL is not letting him get physical enough and might as well be a flag football league. I can't remember where I saw a link to that story; maybe it was removed after I read the article. Basically Polamalu was saying players are being fined just for playing football and being physical when their hits are not clearly attacks on other players or helmet to helmet. I understand where he is coming from: his teammates were fined for being stupid in Jacksonville.

I haven't seen many Raiders games this year, but they just demoted FS Michael Huff. Obviously he's not lighting it up there, but I thought this guy was a stud in college and thought he was a lock to be good in the NFL.

I know we like to bring in top 10 picks and try and save their careers. He is still on the Raiders roster, but I bet they would let him go for a late pick. It sure would be nice having one more safety on outr roster.

Here is what he said, "I'm definitely surprised. I thought going out there I'd play well at free safety," Huff said. "This is the hardest I've worked this past offseason."

Looking back on it, should we have attempted to trade for him? He has been playing well this season and Peterson seems to be on the decline. I know Smith is supposed to take over in the middle but he's played great on the outside and pairing Smith and Durant with Vilma would give us a great linebacker core. Anyway I know hindsight is 20/20 but I can't help but wonder what if.
