Nice. And as the case with Az, Det, us with the previous regime, etc.... just because you consistently pick high, doesnt guarantee anything. Ya'll would never watch a game on TV, so get over yourself. BTW, that's with the tarps on. Also, as a Jag fan I loved the moves the Texans made!
Actually it's waaaay too early to tell which teams made good moves or bad.
Anyway, how bout ya'll let the titans have the cellar this year. ;) Works for me.

RE: texans making bad moves
texxxan (5/7/2008)
This year we didnt pick in the top 10... and traded back to 26. Also thanks for letting me know that "Traditionally you can find TEs in the 2nd day of the draft." since y'all struggled to find one in the first round of that exact draft.
08 Fear Hussein 08 (5/7/2008)
I'm done running in circles here..
Of course you are, because your getting your arse kicked......your "they just have high draft picks" argument has been completely destroyed.
08 Fear Hussein 08 (5/7/2008)
Your drafts have yet to give you a winning record. Jacksonville built a larger stadium than they should have because of other venues here, ie. Gator Bowl, Florida/Georgia, etc. We do better than most teams in the league, based on percentage of population. But I digress.......

You guys do have an ascending team and I believe you will turn some heads this year. Kubiak was a first year OFFENSIVE head coach and could have had any offensive talent in the draft for his system....but instead elected to go defense.......same thing with DeMeco, Kubiak elected to go defense again. Charley Casserly was a dead duck during that draft and everybody knew it....he really had no say so.

So that leaves Andre Johnson (no brainer) Dunta Robinson (big need, no brainer).

Out of four drafts he got us two good players and one was a top 3 pick beast WR (no brainer).......that's not exactly nailing down talent in the draft

Oops my bad, I'll be fair and include Domanick Davis, that guy was legit and before injury one of the best young backs in the league.

Now let's look at the players drafted since Kubiak showed up

In only two drafts (half the drafts of C.C.)

Mario Williams

DeMeco Ryans

Eric Winston (3rd rounder)

Charles Spencer (3rd rounder - the dude was a monster before his injury, hope he makes it back)

Owen Daniels (one of the best TEs in the league.....4th rounder)

Amobi Okoye

Fred Bennett.

Speaking off Fred Bennett...here's a insider article. http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/insider/columns/story?columnist=joyner_kc&id=3374798&action=login&appRedirect=http%3a%2f%2finsider.espn.go.com%2fnfl%2finsider%2fcolumns%2fstory%3fcolumnist%3djoyner_kc%26id%3d3374798
As was the case with the receivers, this metric review measures medium (11-19 yards), deep (20-29 yards) and bomb (30-plus yards) pass attempts on a yards-per-attempt basis. Because cornerbacks tend to see fewer passes than wide receivers, I lowered the qualifying-attempt mark to 24. The yardage totals once again include "pass in the air" penalty attempts and yards (i.e., pass interference, defensive holding, illegal contact, etc.).

Now that we have the rules out of the way, here are the top 10 vertical cornerbacks from 2007:

Player Team Vert Att Vert Yds Vert YPA
Fred Bennett Houston 24 67 2.8
Quentin Jammer San Diego 35 159 4.5
Deshea Townsend Pittsburgh 35 178 5.1
Charles Tillman Chicago 34 199 5.9
Fred Smoot Washington 32 197 6.2
Terrence McGee Buffalo 44 271 6.2
Eric Wright Cleveland 46 300 6.5
Antonio Cromartie San Diego 29 202 7.0
Sheldon Brown Philadelphia 40 279 7.0
Will Allen Miami 30 211 7.0

Fred Bennett might be the best young cornerback in the NFL. He not only posted a phenomenally low vertical YPA but also gave up only six completions in those 24 attempts, none of which were at the deep or bomb level. Bennett's overall YPA of 4.7 was third-best among cornerbacks last season, which is another reason I think he might be only one full season as a starter away from being a serious Pro Bowl candidate.
Charlie with Dom Capers was the worst GM in the league......I'm not even going to get into the horrible FA signings or trades that he pulled off.

RE: texans making bad moves

Good lord.. they run this much smack now.. imagine when they DO get a winning season notched on their belt.

RE: texans making bad moves
huffdaddy52 (5/6/2008)

texxxan (5/6/2008)

huffdaddy52 (5/6/2008)

I agree that Kubiak has done a good job these past few drafts, he had a lot of work cut out for him with the roster he inherited.

I disgree on the positions you stated as the only glaring needs (I could be wrong though b/c you know your team better than I do :D)

Other than Demeco, are your other LB's long term fixtures?

Is Jones or Walters the clear cut #2 WR opposite Andre Johnson?

The O-line is completely set in your eyes??
Linebackers: Morlon Greenwood (29) was very solid at WLB... (Played in all 16 games, starting 15...totaled 119 tackles, 91 solo, one sack for eight yards, one interception, four passes defensed and one forced fumble...ranked eighth in the AFC in total tackles and fifth in solo tackles...had four double-digit tackle days, etc). The coaching staff absolutely loves LB Zach Diles from last years draft, and is looking to start on the strong side. We then just drafted LB Xavier Adibi in the 4th who the Texans think they got great value with this pick. As far as depth goes, we now have 7 LBs on the roster including Chaun Thompson a former 2nd rd pick we got in ****ency.

WR: Our WR corp is possibly one of our strongest units. AJ, then Kevin Walters (solid #2), then Andre Davis, followed with last years draft pick WR Jacoby Jones.

O-Line: As stated, if Brown listens to Gibbs and becomes what we think he will... he will eventually take over at LT for good, and Salaam a solid back up. We just traded for our new starting Center Chris Meyers from Denver, RT is set with Winston, LG is set with Pitts. RG is a wild card, and a healthy return of highly touted Charles Spencer could challenge Mike Briesiel who played very well at RG down the stretch last year. Kasey Studdard, Jordan Black, Brandon Frye, Rashad Butler are other notables in various back up roles.

RE: texans making bad moves
texxxan (5/6/2008)

huffdaddy52 (5/6/2008)
For as bad as you guys make Charley Casserly out to be, didn't he draft your best players?

Such as Mario Williams, Demeco Ryans, Dunta Robinson, and Andre Johnson?

For being in year 3 of the current regime, the Texans are still pretty thin at a lot of positions...
Casserly was def. there when first year head coach Kubiak showed up and worked together for that draft. I doubt we can catch yall as an overall team until possibly 2009. But if we stay healthy, we should be able to play with most anyone THIS year. We will surprise some people I think. MNF at home against you guys is cirlced on my calendar... will be a great night. Hopefully due to our history of close games against each other and with the home field advantage we can squeak one out.

RE: texans making bad moves
texxxan (4/29/2008)

cunninghamj (4/29/2008)

MuddmonsterT (4/28/2008)

HURRICANE!!!
