DO NOT go there. We have NO reason to think he was involved in anything illegal. He is a victim here and there is no excuse for what was done to him so don't go portraying him as a possible bad guy. This is not the time or the place for it and I refuse to allow that thought to enter my head until something is proven otherwise. And as far as the money, we have NO idea what the Jaguars are doing for Richard. For all we know theymay becontributing to a fund which may sethim up for life. He is going to have permanent and exorbitant medical bills for the rest of his life and perhaps people feel donating money to Richard and setting up a fund for him to care for himself takes priority over adding to a reward for his attackers capture. I am not accusing or portraying anything about anyone. Just like I don't know if he was a bad guy, you don't know if he is a good guy either. Just trying to point the fact that there is some kind of liability that comes along with vouching for a person you don't really know.

He has already shown some poor judgment in his short stay in Jacksonville, so it is not all that far fetched that he may have been doing or involved in activities that he should not have been involved with in the first place.

it doesn't matter what someone has done in their life NOONE deserves to be shot 1 time let alone 14 times. Its such a senseless act. He might of been doing something he shouldn't have been doing but again, noone deserves that.

The only problem I have with that is this: If someone out there knows something, and isn't saying anything because there isn't a big enough reward for them? That's disgusting. I think they would need to be punished in some way too.

If the reward is not high enough, one might be reluctant to accept the risk. This is true in most aspects of life.

Collier probably will use the same fighting spirit that took him to the NFL because it was not taken away from him. The left leg is not your brain or your heart, so you're able to keep fighting without it. The difference is instead of fighting for a better 40 yard dash time, Collier is trying to learn a new skill that is equally challenging. He is getting ready for discharge. I think Shands will let Collier go home as soon as there is confidence in his ability to take care of himself. He knows if he can go from being a Wal-Mart clerk to a Jaguars player, he can continue to live a normal life and do a lot that previously was never thought possible.

I cannot possibly fathom what I would do if I were in Collier's place. He is young and I am sure the will to survive pulled him through this and he will only continue to get stronger as he decides what he wants to do with his life. He fought to be an NFL player where you have to have not only physical strength but mental strength as well. He'll come through this and show those who did this to him that they won't keep him down.

I also hope Collier somehow makes a speedy recover and attends the Jaguars game to give them extra momentum and all the will power to rattle the team at our house of Teal....that would be extra nice....especially against the DOLTS

Whenever senseless crimes like this take place, it is up to the victim to make the best of a bad situation. Collier is a fighter, or he would have never made it to the NFL. I hope that he can use that same fighting spirit to turn this negative into something positive.

I also hope he is financially positioned to be able to afford the level of care he will need in the future.

It sounds like there are a lot of people that love him, and that can be a big factor.

I just don't understand the gun control people because even if they pass new gun laws, that does not make gun 'vanish'. It just makes it harder for law abiding citizens to legally aquire a gun. The criminals will still have no problem getting one. Crimes are not usually commited with legally aquired firearms.

I don't remember who said something about repealing the second amendment. That would make no sense what so ever. My plan is to write down my prayer and mail it to Richard so he can see what some Jaguars fans are thinking about - the medical staff, friends, family members, all the Jaguars, sheriffs involved in the case, and whoever ruined Collier's life with his gun. I think it will help Richard to know Jaguars fans everywhere are praying about what happened instead of simply saying, "Get well soon," and then forgetting everything. He can look at that beautiful sheet of paper to remind himself everything will be OK in the end, no matter what happens. If you want to add something, let me know so I can start a new thread for prayers.

Man, there really isn't much you can say about what happened to Collier. I know many people don't believe in God, but as a Christian I have to say that God is with him and hopefully the Collier family and relatives can find some solace and comfort in him right now.

If I personally knew Richard as a friend, I would be crying like a baby right now and acting like he died. Because he is paralyzed, I feel like he lost both legs, since he is unable to do anything with the right one. To be confined to a wheelchair forever as both an amputee and a paraplegic is nothing short of horrible. I can only hope he is able to recover completely where the damage was not disabling and has a good life despite the fact it no longer includes playing football. I will pray for everybody who must now take care of Richard - family, friends, and medical staff - and the sheriffs investigating the case, not just Richard himself.

My thoughts and prayers are with Rich and his family... I understand now why his family didn't want any news out, they wanted Rich to be the first to know his condition and give him time to adjust.

on one hand he is alive and that is a miracle in and of itself, the loss of his leg and being paralyzed is a big adjustment for anyone to face, but from what everyone has said he is a fighter, he fought his way from Wal-Mart to the NFL I hope his spirit is up to this test as well...
