vic said that he has looked good. i am not disputing your input because i was not their.

and we have won 2 in the last ten years, and we are poised to make another run this year. while the history is still being built, the current tide is gaining a lot of strength.

and i may have been slightly mistaken about Chris leaks value as a BACKUP nfl QB. but that does not quell the breeze of the modern times that is the sheer unmittigated dominance of florida football.

when you look at miller, he is a starting center in the top confrence in the country won a national championship and put up the bar what 34 times. the kid comes in and can pay. any other year he would have probably been taken in the first four rounds on that alone. this is the wierdest draft that any of us have seen. i think that miller has potential to be a starting caliber center/guard in this league and norman is older and more expensive.

i think that nwaneri has a great shot in the short term and the long term, but miller to me represents a more realistic solution down the line for meester because nwaneri is going to eventually inherit the guard spot opposite manuwai.[/quote]

I hadn't heard that. i had heard nothing but good things about the kid. if you have more information than i do about his performance in pads then i concede and let the preseason dictate because i have been up to my knees in work for a while now.

and alfie, we are really going to have to talk about this gator envy. don't hate us because we win. its not our fault. we just have better players. we had an off year last year, but don't worry. we will give all the haters out there plenty more bulletin material when we win the SEC AGAIN and play for a national championship... AGAIN.

1.)excellent post. very well explained, concise, and to the point. i tip my hat to you on that.

2.) you are absolutely right. at some point you are going to have to have a mean streak, and i never really thought about how many top teams are actually running the 3-4 with dominant nose tackles.

3.)I know that the kid is strong. i know that he did over 30 reps at the combine and has a great work ethic. playing in this camp he is going to have to go against kennedy, meier, hen, and mcdaniel. playing against those guys you are going to have a great look at what he is going to be able to do against the bigger gus in the playoffs. the depth on this team at DT helps give you a look at the future prospects of interior offensive linemen because tey get to practice and be evaluated against one of the best defensive lines in the league.

4.)maybe one or two centers coming out of college can hang anywhere close with pro bowl nose tackles RIGHT NOW. any time you look at a rookie there has to be a lot of projection. i think a kid with his strength and intelligence projects well enough to the center spot that you can take a flyer on a roster spot if he proves himself in camp. but if he is getting pushed out of the point of attack by our front line guys then it will tell on itself.

The thing that I think D. Miller does not have and that he needs to work on/develop to be a significant member of the Offensive Line is he is not a mauler.

He seems to be (from the games that I watched of him last season) a pretty good technician, but he doesn't crush people the way that B. Meester has shown. If there is one thing about this team's Offensive Line, it is that they are big, tough, strong, maulers. For crying out loud, we turned a RT into a RG last season and arguably got better.

I am not saying that Miller can't develop that ability, but it doesn't seem like he has that specific tool in his hip pocket just yet.

Are you kidding me? Lageman on the smartboard last year said Spicers performance last year against him was the most dominant performance he had seen in a long time. Spicer did what ever he wanted. Stats might not show it but it was.

Drew Miller is a beast of a guy and a rookie that should have a future in this league. He is fast for an OG and should be just as good at center. The reason I like this guy is size, strength and speed. He is resonsible for letting Tebow and the gators lead a successful rush all last season and the guy just looks like a starter already. I believe he played more at center last year at UF, and with recent injuries I think its a no brainer he'll have a future roster spot on this team.

Todd Fordham takes the cake. I think he gave up 13 sacks in 12 games with another 7 FS or holds.

He made Salaam look like TBos.

Lewenski can also play Center.I think he will make it for depth over Miller.[/quote]

Miller will probably make it onto the PS. He one of those guys you find a way to keep on the team.

From what JDR has said, it appears that Meester will NOT be going on IR, so he will be taking up a roster spot even though he will not be able to play. Keeping Drew Miller while keeping a roster spot open for Brad Meester seems to me to be committing too much to the Center position. Accordingly, I would assume that Drew Miller is a long shot to make this roster unless Nwaneri or Norman go down with an injury placing one of them on the IR.

His chances got somewhat better becasue of the Meester injury, but he's still behind Norman and Nwaneri. More than likely, he winds up on the practice squad.

Even before Meester's injury, I thought Drew Miller would be a wondeful candidate to make the team. I'm an out-of-towner, so I only have what is available through this site, but regardless he looks like a solid player.

Now that Meester is down, does he have a better shot to make the team? I think he can be really good behind Norman for insurance (not yet starting), but at the LEAST make the practice squad.

Is the team really committed to getting Nwaneri under center (I have heard rumors of "cross training" some of our lineman) or can Miller lock up the backup role?

Any general info on Miller is also very appreciated. As an aside, I am disappointed with Cotrone's injury. I really REALLY started to like that guy's potential. I hope its something minor, though from what I hear, its not.
