DD Terry was cut because his skill set did not match what the Jags wanted from their #3 RB. It was that simple - I think.

Giles showed some real ability at the end of his senior year. I am curious, though, why he didn't get more playing time in college. Also, why did Tampa Bay cut him so quickly? What are his negatives? If he makes it to training camp, I guess we'll see why, but right now it looks like he will be the RB on the practice squad.

He was never signed. He was brought in as a tryout player. I heard he was headed up to Buffalo for a tryout.

I still think we'll carry one extra wr 6 or Dlineman instead of another Rb since greg jones can do a little dual role but seeing Terry cut this early a little bit surprising

Does it really matter D.D. Terry was cut? Washington is most likely going to be the 3rd RB anyways. Looks like L. Giles will just replace Terry on the P.S.

I think we're really inflating the actual value of DD Terry. He was a nice camp body, and showed some nice things. But, this was not a guy that was going to suddenly crack the top spot, or even find steady playing time on this roster. Odds are pretty good that he won't be wandering too far in the near future, so he could very easily wind up back on the roster. But, let's not make it sound like we've just released a guy that was a significant impact player for the team. He wasn't.

maybe. but even still they had him timed at 4.41. thats slower than Fred and MJD.

I guess instead of Washington and Terry battling it out for the last RB spot, itll be Washington and Giles. doubt itll make much of a difference at all in the fortunes of this team.

One has to wonder if this L. Giles will be used as a kickoff returner. He clearly is fast. Leave it to this Front Office to leave no stone unturned to find talent for this roster.

Terry has looked good, but he's also had issues. According to reports, he blew a couple of assignments and had a fumble during at least one practice session last week. The combination put him in Kennedy Pola's doghouse.

His track coach says he could be an Olympic Runner if he switched from football to track and field.

"If he would train for track on a day-to-day basis, he could be an Olympic runner. Without a doubt. As far as size and speed and if he would just concentrate on track, (he compares) almost like a Maurice Greene type athlete."

Wrighster's injury status seems to be hurting his chances of sustaining his position on the roster. First it was the back, now the knee. He's signed through 2011, but he's not necessarily standing out in the crowd like he was beginning to earlier in his career. Estandia and Angulo filled in well when called upon. It's not like we dropped off when he went out, and if he can't come back 100%... he may no longer be needed.[/quote]

I'm not sure he'd be a better blocker than Cotrone. That appears to be one of Cotrone's specialties - and he outweighs Bishop by just over 10 pounds. Bishop seems very slight for such a tall guy (6' 5" and only 248.) Cotrone may only be 6' 2" but he comes in at 260 and is a pounder, which would work out very well as an H back. He's almost a Wrighster clone in size, only a inch shorter and a couple pounds lighter. Plus, as a back, he was never stopped behind the line of scrimmage his last two seasons in college.

Unless he's put on ten pounds and isn't really 248, Bishop has height, but not good size.

Bishop may sneak onto the roster. Last year we also picked up a UDFA TE from Nevada, but Pudewell sustained an injury and was out early. I'm not even sure he made it to OTA's.

But to the RB. The Jags just don't need a 3rd down back - whether he has speed or not. Taylor and Drew and Jones and Owens just make it hard for anyone looking for a roster spot. But they could be looking for a big, tough runner to backup Taylor.

Now he just has to be able to stay on the 80-man roster after the Jags start signing their draftees. He may end up on the practice squad like Terry was last year.

Lavarus Giles had 10 carries for 19 yards in 2006. 87 carries for 514 yards in 2007 with 5 TDs. both seasons with Jackson St. looks like his only significant carries came in their last two games of the 07 season. and he made the most of them.

Looks like coming out of high school he was gonna go to Bama. But ended up at JUCO for 2 years before he ended up at Jackson St.

anyone else see some news on him? Looks like he was signed with Tampa Bay right after the draft.

Dayum, I wonder if they'll give the "give him a better chance of making another roster" excuse. Vic said Coach Pola was letting him have it for fumbling and missing blocking assignments last week, but I though they were high on the kid.
