Either way it works out, Mike P is definitely handling this the RIGHT way. Instead of whining he's going out and proving that he DESERVES and extension through his play.

Even if he plays well and doesn't get an extension some other team with needs at the position will be willing to pay him the kind of money he's looking for

He hasn't been on the field enough the last two seasons to be able to make that judgement. He's in the same situation Darius was when he was waived. Besides being injury prone, he's quite a bit older than the other GOOD players. I'm guessing he'll be gone.

Mike P's game is built around his speed. He's not the biggest Mike backer around and if he begins to show signs that he's lost some of his speed and mobility I'm sure the team will make the tough decision and let him look for greener pastures. To a certain extent, I hope that isn't the case....but it likely is the reality.

It sounded to me like he was very focused on earning an extension. Now, whether he'll be able to outplay Durant remains to be seen.

I dont see why he would expect an extension. He has been hurt the past two seasons and the back ups have filled in nicely for him. He is starting to age.

I would think he would be more focused on coming back this year and having a good year and earning the right to an extension.
