After trading away Marcus Stroud there isn't much to get excited about next to John Henderson so even though Jacksonville took drastic steps to upgrade the talent outside they are really resting a lot of their hopes on Rob Meier, a 30-year-old, 9-year veteran with just 34 career starts..." -nfldraftcountdown

I've heard this 'DT should have been addressed' comment quite often. However, I believe you need to look beyond this draft to see that it was addressed....

1. I tend to give Rob Meier a little more credit than stated, as he has been heavily involved in the rotation over his career, and has been a more than capable starter in Stroud's injury-plagued past two years.

2. There is developing youth from previous drafts. Tony McDaniel fell in the 2006 draft, as there were questions about his conduct, and was a steal. He played well his rookie season in limited work, and was injured last year. At 6'7, and now 310 lbs, he should not be overlooked if healthy. And, Landri will be stronger and wiser, coming into his second season after a productive rookie campaign.

3. Kennedy, at 6'4 320 lbs, was a former high first round pick that has underperformed to date with other teams. The Jags went after him as they have seen something that they like or believe can be corrected. I am not 'betting the farm' on his great contribution, but he should be able to provide rotational benefit at worst.

RE: NFL Draft Countdown Reviews Jags Draft

Not a bad article, he was safe and didnt really want to go out on a limb one way or another, but he made some good points for someone who doesnt follow the team year round

NFL Draft Countdown Reviews Jags Draft

Here you go:

http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/reviews/reviews/jacksonvillejaguars.html
