Think about it. He's everywhere. When people on a national level think of the Jags, they almost always say, "I Love Maurice Jones-Drew" or "That lil dude Jones-Drew is nasty" and etc

The face of the franchise is the person that most people around the country (NATIONALLY) think about and can recognize when you mention a specific team. That is Jack Del Rio.

Think of it this way .... most people around the country would have NO idea who MJD was if he were sitting in a resturant but a lot of people would recognize Del Rio.

After last season, I think the face of the franchise is Freddy-T. I guess I'm old school but after seeing what he was able to accomplish in his career on the same team, I think of him when I think of the Jaguars.

The face of the franchise is the one that gets the media attention and the commercials.

Without a doubt, MJD is the face of the franchise. He is the biggest media darling that we have ever had.

I think it was Jimmy for a long time then it went to Fred after he retired. Maybe there are multiple faces, it's like John Madden said we aren't a team of Brett Favre's where our players are always getting attention. I think our attitude and team work is the face of this franchise.

That is a good way to put it. IMO, the NFL Network and National media will now be showing a lot of Garrard to get him in the minds of the fans across the country. MJD will still be out there because of his personality. To us die hard fans, we think of Fred when we think of the Jags. But Fred is kind of reserved and I don't think he likes the spotlight a whole bunch. Del Rio is becoming much better known, but is not the "face of the franchise" yet. If he stays another 5 years, then he may be.

As far as national media exposure I think JDR and Maurice Jones are out there as much, if not more than DG. The qb position just pays more than the others.

It's Garrard. It's always the QB. He who gets the glory, also gets the blame.

He stated in his presser that he wants to help put Jacksonville on the map while also saying that he doesn't want the spotlight. He's done some local TV ads but needs to get out there nationally as well. Getting it done on the field is not enough to bring Jax to the forefront. This is what it is. If he wanted to be "the man", then being out there is a part of it. Football comes first but look at Big Ben, Peyton and others. They kick tail on the field and do TV, radio and other stuff too.

No matter who the face of the franchise is, this is Jack's team and he will have them ready to play some ball this Fall!!! =]

Is this question based on the dollar figure of Garrard's contract?

So when Henderson and Stroud were the two highest paid Jaguars up until last week were they the face of the Jaguars?

I'd say that the guy coming off the Pro Bowl season, the one in all of the local ads, the one looking down the barrel of a possible Hall Of Fame selection might be the obvious choice.

But then again, I'm not trying to pointlessly grind the Leftwich axe.

In the world of NFL football it's Maurice Jones-Drew. He's the one getting the national advertising exposure and the highlight reels on ESPN. Even though Fred and David have captured local attention, it's MJD who has captured the interest nationwide.

At this precise point it's David. But that's only because he's in the spotlight because of his new contract. Once that dies down I'd have to give it to Fred, he's quickly becoming the same to this franchise as Bettis was to the Steelers.

In the future MJD will probably take over that role.
