I think everyone with a shred of football intelligence knows how much holding goes on at the line of scrimmage on any given play. If the Steelers fans are griping, then that's sour grapes. It was a great play, made by a great palyer and a better team that night. Deal with it.

I, for one, cannot WAIT until the Steelers come to Jax this fall to get punched in the face all over again. What a great game that was, by the way!

RE: Why now?

Me, being the conspiracy theorist that I am, believe that this is a product of the braintrust of the national media trying to lay yet another big, smelly dump on the phenom that is the Jaguars.:w00t:

RE: Why now?

These things tend to balance themselves out in the end. This instance is no different. There were bad calls on both sides of the field. They benefitted, and so did we. In the end, the Jags walked out with a win. Life goes on.

RE: Why now?
Chooch (4/2/2008)
Hey I got an idea!
Maybe the referee team noticed that the Pass Interference penalty against B. Williams on 4th and 1 that gave Pittsburgh a fresh set of Downs on the 1 yard line was a wrong call. You know, the one where H. Ward grabs Williams by the face mask and tried to pull him to the ground and Williams was called for the penalty. That might not have been the right call, but then again, I am a biased Jacksonville Homer.

And maybe, juuuuuust maybe, that call that led directly to a TD for the lead for Pittsburgh might have swung the game in Pittsburgh's favor and the Referee, who is responsible for holding calls, might have thought that Jacksonville deserved just a little break seeing as how they had the game pretty much taken away from them by the officials just ~4 1/2 minutes earlier.

But that's just me.
Oh, that play. Should have been called; I was at the stadium, and people were pissed!

But I still haven't got over the time when they called it a "fumble" in '06 against the Pats, one of the final games of the season (second to last?), had a chance to get into the playoffs, and GARRARD'S ARM WAS CLEARLY GOING FORWARD.

Incomplete pass. That quarterback sneak netted the Steelers one yard, and the punt on the next play put the Jaguars in position for the game-winning drive.

Why now?

http://www.profootballtalk.com/category/rumor-mill/

Why now?
